The next train journey on my wish list is from France to Belgium because I am working to bring together wonderful teaching artists from India, Ghana, Portugal, USA to my place in France and then to an international conference in Belgium. Along the way we will share ideas and techniques and perform and teach others how cultural arts enhance understanding, communication, and connection to the natural world.

My favourite slow train journey was from Ankara to Kars in Turkey. Slow in the good way, a lot of time to look out of the window to the beautiful nature around the train and to meet and talk with the lovely people in the train. Good memories!

My favorite slow travel Interrail journey has been from Paris to Montenegro, passing through Slovenia, Croatia, Italy and Austria. This was my first solo travel journey and where I met my greatest love, that is still in my life two years later :)

The next train travel on my wishlist is the Bernina Express in Switzerland. It’s a country I love and as a photographer, I would love to enjoy the trip both through my eyes and through my camera lens!

The coastal route between Palermo and Catania in Sicilia : at times, it feels like the train is moving above the sea. On a different note, I am very fond of crossing industrial sites such as the ones we are passing on the slow trains routes between France and Belgium. + can’t wait for more night trains route to open again !

My favourite trip so far has been the return to Switzerland over the Bernina Pass. The height and spectacular engineering was a marvel and slowed time down to allow us to appreciate the scenery and the journey we’d so far enjoyed. Dazzled by a Golden Eagle that landed in the tress near us as we headed up the last few hundred metres of the pass. Italy saying arrivederci? - until next time!

My favorite slow travel route is from Belgrade to Bar. It offers fantastic views of deep gorges.

My favorite slow travel route is from Cuneo in Italy via the Tenda Railway through France to Ventimiglia in Italy. Very interesting line through the Alps.

My husband and I took a six-month sabbatical from work last year and used Interrail to travel from Istabul to Sofia, to Bucharest, Budapest, Vienna, Prague, Salzburg, and Verona. What a trip! My favourite long-distance train is probably the Milan to Sicily train, where the train travels by ferry over the Straits of Messina - like entering the mouth of a huge white floating beast. Travelling from Seattle to New York over 3 ½ days was also amazing, as was travelling half the length of India in one night.

My favorite route is taking two night trains in a row to go from Berlin all the way up to Kiruna, one to Stockholm, one to Kiruna. It’s an incredible journey taking you above the polar circle to all the magical nature and natural phenomena Sapmi has to offer 😍

Tough question... I loved Bernina Express, as it was the first train I got on in my childhood and it was something magic finally becoming alive. This summer, Jungfraubahn is in my bucket list: Swiss landscapes are the best!
