My favourite train route in Europe that I’ve taken to date was the journey from Zurich to Salzburg. Travelling with my interrail pass I kept getting off in unbelievable places and the views from the train were stunning!

One of my favourite train journeys is going through the Alps from Bolzano to Innsbruck.

Riding the train vom Genova to Sanremo and catching the last parts still being placed directly at the sea. It’s a perfect view which sadly only still exist in small sections. They remind me of the past when this whole line was the perfect holiday riding straight trough the small towns and along the coast. :) I would love to catch this again before it is too late and none of it exists anymore.

The train journey next on my wishlist is going to Slovenia by train from the Netherlands, and visiting Prague is the runner-up.

I would love to Travel in a big cirlcle around Europe. Starting in London, passing the Scandinavian countries and coming back south though the balticum. Crossing Poland and all the way south to Greece. Then by ferry to Sicily and Spain and from Portugal back north.

The Train Jaune in France was a very beautiful trip with the open roof. And also the way to the south of france from Paris to Perpignon where I saw wild living flamingos from the train.

The best route is from Rome to Florence, a mix of history, rural fields and gorgeous landscapes.

One of the most memorable train journeys I’ve taken is from Copenhagen to Stockholm. The highlight comes right at the start, when the train crosses the stunning Øresund Bridge toward Malmö. Watching Copenhagen slowly disappear behind you while gliding over the open sea is a surreal experience water in every direction, with the sense of moving between two countries in just minutes.

My next planned trip is from Vienna to Paris via Italy and the French Riviera.

I would love to combine the train and hiking along the French Western Coast. I’d start in Dunkirk (where I’m planning to do volunteering work (in Grande-Synthe specifically)) and then do the ‘Côte d’Opale’ and put the pieces together by combining train rides with large days of walking and camping. Would love to get all the way to Biarritz!

I mostly love to travel on Tatra railway in Slovakia and also railways around Interlaken in Switzerland.

Hi and thank you awesome people of Interrail!

The next train journey that I have in my wishlist is visiting Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. Because I feel very attracted to the Nordic countries history, as well as the castles. Can’t wait.

Thank you again and good luck to everyone!

The interrail journey that moved and changed me the most is starting from Kristiansand to the Lofotes and over the border to Sweden. It struck me with "Reiselust" and is definitely a route I plan to revisit now 10 years later.✨

My favourite train journey is from Milano to Siracusa. After a good sleep you wake up in southern Italy and later you go with the train on the ferry from mainland to the island, late afternoon train arrives in Siracusa!

Wonderful trainride:

Venice

Budapest

Prague

Dusseldorf

berlin

Hamburg

Copenhagen

STOCKHOLM

Love the way from where ever to Bretagne. Cause first it feels familiar, then after changing in the crazily crowded Paris, you still have Kilometers and Kilometers until you slowly arrive at “the end of the world” …or the beginning.
I will do this ride again and again.

My favourite route was the overnight train from Stockholm to Narvik. Especially the last part with snow (in june) suddenly changing into a green and lush landscape :)

Croatia down to Montenegro, then I’d just keep hopping trains all the way to Istanbul. No real plan, just following the coast, chasing good views, and seeing how far I can get before I run out of track.🛤️🛤️

The next (slow) travel route on my wishlist is the Cinque Terre Express from La Spezia to Monterosso al Mare!

My favourite slow travel ist through Switzerland. It’s beautiful with the mountains and the lakes and you can get Out anywhere, wander around and get back in a train which ist punctual and comfortable.

My next trip will be visiting Rome again with my mom, she was there after her school finals and now some 50 years later she still loves the city and culture.

I fell in love with Switzerland ever since I had my first Interrail Journey, so the Bernina-Albula-Route is definitely a favourite :) What´s next? I am very curious about scenic train travels in Norway, e.g. Oslo-Trondheim :)

It has to be The Glacier Express in Switzerland.  It has a journey time of 7.5 hours and is a distance of roughly 290 km between St. Moritz and Zermatt, offering panoramic views of the Swiss Alps, 291 bridges, and 91 tunnels. The scenery is stunning and the onboard dining offer top quality local Swiss cuisine
