Ive been wanting to explore southeastern Europe by train. The train from Sofia to Split is a journey I‘d like to do some day.

My favourite route is the journey from Germany to Finland via Denmark and Sweden, then the ferry to Helsinki, to experience the Nordic landscape and a cardamom bun ;)

I remember it so well, it was my first trip with Interrail. We traveled to Zurich on a warm summer day in June and walked through the city all day long. We needed to head further to Austria, and the journey from Zurich to Innsbruck was probably the most beautiful thing that has ever happened to me.

I remember how we left Zurich, passing by the huge lake and heading toward the mountains. I was expecting this journey to be magnificent, but I could never have imagined how beautiful it would be. After we came out of a tunnel, I saw the mountains, so big and so beautiful that I couldn’t describe them, neither then nor now. I just started crying and couldn’t stop for an hour or so. I wanted this ride to go on forever, and even now, whenever I am feeling empty, I think of this journey.

The speed of the train, carrying you through the Alps. The scenery, so different from every angle, yet always majestic.

This is how my Interrail journey started. Hopefully, soon more countries will appear on my list.

I absolutely loved going to Stockholm from Berlin, stopping along the way in Copenhagen to celebrate my 24th birthday and absolutely falling in love with the city and afterwards Stockholm, where I have now spent almost a year on exchange. Last year I went from Berlin to Marseille by train to celebrate my 23rd birthday and woke up in absolute paradise in south of France, later taking stops in the Pyreneen mountains, Biarritz, Paris, Zurich then Bratislava and finally back to Berlin. Both of these birthday trips were absolute perfection and so easily done by train, I could even work remotely on the way! I am super excited to plan this year’s birthday trip ( in august ) and would love to once again do it as an interrail journey ! 🏄🏽‍♀️🩵 south of Italy sounds compelling 🤭

I’m a student, so I travel on a budget but that’s never stopped me from going as far as I can. I’ve learned that you don’t need much to explore the world, just curiosity and a bit of courage.

For me, traveling (especially across Europe) is a way to understand both the world and myself. I love going solo: every journey feels like stepping into the unknown, and I’m always surprised by what I discover along the way, about places… and about who I’m becoming :)

One of my dream slow travel journeys would be the Glacier Express through the Swiss Alps. Sitting by the window, watching the landscapes slowly change from valleys to snowy peaks, feels like the perfect way to truly experience a place instead of rushing through it.

The oneandonly Bernina Express or a slow travel route across Scotland!

I love the Scottish West Highland line running from Scotland to Oban - one of the most scenic routes there is, and Oban is a lovely base to explore many islands on the west coast of Scotland. This summer, I’d love to take the soon-to-open night train from Germany to Sweden and go on Nordic adventures for the first time!

I really enjoyed the train journey from Milan into Lugano, Switzerland - watching the landscape shift from busy city to mountains and lakes felt like the meaning of slow travel. I’d love to do more routes like that, especially a scenic railway through Norway for a view of the fjords.

My favorite journey was going from Bari to Venice and after a wonderful day there with the night train from Venice back to my home in Hamburg.

The next trip in my bucket list is the West Highland Line in Scotland! I've once visited the Highlands and the stunning views left me longing for more. I'm sure the train route would be beautiful!

A journey from the south of France to Stockholm: three full days on the road and 30 trains, and I’ve never been happier in my life. It was my first trip when I was 18, it helped me grow and blossom. Thank you, Interrail.

My favourite journey is from St Pancras to Royan France as that’s where my old friend lives.

I would love to travel from Vienna to Paris with my next Interrail Trip, connecting two enchanting fin-de-siècles cities.

My favorite trip was my first interrail trip to Marseille via Switzerland. Growing up in an industrial coal mining town in Germany and being used to the city air - I felt something I have never experienced before. My nostrils where super overwhelmed with the fresh air of the swiss mountains! It was my first trip by myself and and I realized how big and beautiful Europe is. And that a slight linger of sewage in the air isn’t the standard air quality here! haha!

For my next Trip I’d love to visit Croatias beautiful beaches and staying for a few days in Ljubljana inbetween. And maybe I will stay for a bit more and explore my slavic heritage. Sometimes the best plan is to not plan anything at all!

Several lovely routes including bernina express and the flam bana but i think my favorite so far has been munich to venice through the brenner pass. i like the mix of communities, majestic nature, and engineering marvels.

My favourite journey was taking a train from Geneva to Interlaken; mainly for the scenery that I could see from the lovely large, clean glass windows. It felt like I was in the outside and part of the outdoors. It was the magical contrast between the snow capped mountains and the green grass with beautiful chalets with colourful window boxes lovingly cared for with geraniums. I could smell the grass and the clean air. This was even more magical with coffee in my thermos flask and a cheese sandwich; meandering through the beautiful scenic countryside.

Train journeys are always magical wherever I have travelled to. Maybe not always inside the train but a seat by the window is always a geographical experience and it makes me whimsical when I think of the many journeys I have taken. Always with a smile.

My slow travel dream is a Greek island "Interrail", far off the beaten path! I'd love to explore those lesser-known, authentic hidden gems where time seems to stand still. Immersing myself in the local culture, wandering through fishing villages and traditional tavernas, I'd seek genuine encounters with the locals. A rich and profound experience, dedicated to true discovery.

So far my favourite slow trip has been Budapest-Bucharest-Sofia-Istanbul, each step by night train when possible. You see a lot of different places and get to wake up looking at Romanian mountain ranges :)

I’d say Podgorica to Belgrade with a stop to at Uzice to visit national park Tara!

My favourite journey and the biggest so far has been a trip in Scandinavia, start with Hamburg, goes to Stockholm, then Narvik and visit Lofoten Islands, and go back to the south of Norway by visiting some cities in Norway (Trondheim, bergen, Oslo) and visit the south of Sweden and a city in Danemark. All of that with my friends.

On my interrail journey in 2022 me and my best friend caught a train from Brennero Brenner in Italy to Berlin in Germany. Seeing the greener and mountains of Austria was absolutely stunning in the height of summer. I remember having to learn my theory for my driving test at the time on the train! I got distracted often by the scenery. I will never forget it.

Well, obviously the ride from the place where I study (Enschede) to my hometown Utrecht, where my parents life, is one of my favourite routes. But I remember going through Zwitserland with those amazing big windows and being able to see all these beautiful mountains the nature, rivers and lakes all around you. That must be still one of the most memorable trains rails I've been on.

Favourite one probably from Utrecht to Vienna, changing landscapes going from flat to mountainny and to flst again.

Would say for my next trip to Norway, gonna be hiking from Skarvheimen to Auerlandsdalen. If I were to win, might go into unemployment by choice soomer than I thought, if you get what I mean🙃 Either way aint gonna be long till these views again
