Is it possible to book an additional travelday during the trip spontaneously?

I’m afraid it isn’t, although it is straightforward to buy and use a new mobile pass while you are travelling.

But if you just want one extra travel day, you’d be better off simply identifying the least valuable travel day of all those you have planned out for your trip, then using conventional tickets for that one rather than your pass. This is precisely how I am going about slightly extending my own trip this year.
