I’m getting this train in a couple of days and it says there’s no reservation needed. Is this correct or do I need a reservation. I don’t mind being on a longer train journey with more stops so am happy to not pay the extra fees.

You don't need a reservation on the German ICE trains and I just checked info about the Belgian Railway and there is no reservation on domestic trains in Belgium. So, you should be m fine to travel on those trains without any reservation.

The ICE from K almost  always runs on to Midi=southin BRU=via the tunnel.

On the german site of bahn.de you can check-just put in this train-how full/busy they estimate the train to be-when its really ´vollbesetzt´ it ois still adviseable to spend the 4€ for a seat_REServ (and the train to BRU same day can even be included

If you're just on your own, then there's no need to book a reservation on a normal Thursday.
