Hi,

I reserved 3 places on the train from Duisburg Hbf to Berlin Hbf. It departs on the 17th of July. After this reservation, I did not receive a confirmation e-mail. And it is also not showing in ‘my reservations’

Then something most likely went wrong with your reservation and in that case your money will be refunded.

The best way to make a new reservation is Bahn.com where you select "seat only". Then you don't have to pay the extra fee of 2 EUR per ticket and person that Interrail/Eurail charges. Please read more about that below in the advice from the experienced travellers in the Community.

Here is some useful information from the experienced travellers in the Community regarding both planning, reservations and activation of pass and travel days.

Planning

The rail planner is normally not up to date, as it only is updated once a month, so to be sure of the time table you better check the timetable and availability on the websites of the national railways. The bigger national railways, like DB (Germany) SBB (Switzerland) and ÖBB (Austria) cover several countries.

Reservations

The advice from the experienced travellers in the community is to use other ways to make reservations than the Interrail/Eurail website.  You can look at the guide in the link:

https://community.eurail.com/train-connections-reservations-47/how-to-get-reservations-105

If you, after having looked at the guide, have questions about how to make specific reservation, please give your travel details (departure date, time and route) preferably in a new topic, and you will get advice.

Please note that Interrail/Eurail charges an extra fee of 2 EUR per person and ticket in addition to the fee for the seat reservation.

Activation of pass

During the activation process, when you choose the start day of the validity of the pass, the first day of the validity period is automatically made a travel day, even if you don't enter a journey, the advice is therefore not to activate the pass before the first travel day as you only can deactivate the pass before 00.00 on the day the validity starts. If your travel plans change in the last moment you will loose travel days if you have activated the pass in advance.

It can be wise to make a test and activate the pass with a start date well in the future and then deactivate the pass immediately, just to see that everything works.

 Activation of travel day

The advice from the experienced travellers in the community is also never to activate a travel day, that is connect a journey to your pass, until just before boarding the train, otherwise you might loose a travel day if your travel plans change in a late stage  You can't delete a travel day in the past. A travel day can only be deleted until 23.59 CET the day before the travel day.

Thanks for the reaction. How do I know that I won’t pay double?

You can try to contact Customer Support through this form, but it will probably take time to get an answer.

https://eurail.zendesk.com/hc/en-001/requests/new

Customer Support is overloaded with requests so you need to clearly write what date you will start travelling so that Customer Support can prioritise your request correctly.

In fact all ICE here in DE=germany are with RES optional only-seats are marked for which sectors they are REServed (we moeten geloof ik tegeswoordig elke newbee alles vanaf 0 uitleggen).

Also note that very often the INtern ICE NL-DE is cancelled or rerouted via venlo-check again a day or 2 before. But train 2 is also likely for that-there will at least be delay.

IF there is ample time between the 2-and you have a pass-stay on till next stop DUSseldorf-and change there-go in train 2 same back. DU is the worst of the worst stations in DE and DUS much better.

I have the exact same problem. I booked seat reservations for 3 trains but only with one of them I face a problem. I booked it two weeks ago and I haven’t received a refund or a confirmation email. What do I do now? These are paper tickets so I can’t wait forever because they won’t arrive on time if I had to rebook them.

@Efi

For what route, date and time are your missing tickets?

What was the promised delivery date of the paper tickets?

Can you see the order of the paper tickets under "reservations" in your account?

The missing tickets are for September 8th from Barcelona to Lyon. The promised delivery was August 25th and of course I cannot see the order under reservations in my account. I’ve contacted the support team but I still haven’t received any help.

As your travel is almost 2 months ahead I guess that you will have to wait for a response from Customer Support.
