As I've explained in another post : seat reservations are totally separate from the pass. It doesn't matter where you make them, they will never appear on the app.
On the train you'll have to show both the app (your ticket = QR-code) and the PDF/printed sheet (seat reservation).
You can make seat reservations with DB no problem. A lot of people do that in order to save money.
