I would like to travel 11. august 2025 from Vienna to La Specia. Right now, I cannot see possibility to book a ticket in the train. I would like to be sure that this train will be really operated on this date. I can see only trains to Milan or to Roma. Could you please make me sure that this train is planned for the summer and from whitch date it will be possible to book a ticket for my travel.

The connection is possible to book now, till 29.may.2025 later, it is written, that cannot be booked. I am trying to find when the tickets and if really, will be available.

thank you

Indeed it won't run. Between other reasons there are maintenance works on the bridge over the Po this summer. Less capacity and rerouted trains.

Thank you for prompt answer. Where I can find this infomation you have from nighjet.com? Is it somewhere written or see it somewhere just to be sure?

And in this case, what could be the best way to get to La Specia? from Vienna to Padova → milan → allessandria → La Spezia? But, would be there the bridge reconstruction on this route from Milan to La Specia? Or change in Bologna and get to La Specia from South?

We planned to spend a night in monterosso before finish in La Specia…

I would be very grateful for any suggestion. thank You.

Nightjet homepage:

The Italian timetables are far from complete at the moment. For now looks like there will be fast regional trains between Milano Rogoredo and Genova. All Intercity services are still missing.

Personally I see 2 options:

- night train all the way to Milan, its terminus. There will be dozen of options to get to Genoa/further south, I wouldn't worry about that yet. You've even got the shiny Swiss Giruno once a day (though reservations required). Or some scenic routes such as Parma-La Spezia. ;)

- night train to Florence: new carriages, often more expensive, book soon. Arrival is in Campo de Marte -> you may need to transfer to the main station. Then Florence - La Spezia direct or with a change in Pisa, frequent options.

Good idea from @thibcabe .

Reserve your Nightjet to either Milan or Florence, as you prefer, and then think about the onward connections to La Spezia later.

Just look at timetables for next week, to give you an idea, then you can firm up the plans for your Italian trains closer to the time.

I am back to our trip. We decided, that even the travel will not be ideal as in case of direct NJ233 train, we will try to make it. But, I  checked the connections from Milan to Genova and it looks that there are at lease one two changes. I expected that there will be more direct trains in case of this reparation work that kills original direct trains. So trip throug Florencie could be better… but. Once, the train is not direct, we think to go to  Genoa Aquarium, and latter continue to Monte Rosso where we booked the accomodation. My polite question is now again. In this scenario, what would you recommend me to book, train to Milano or Florencie? And than continue to Genova/Monterosso or LaSpecia/MonteRosso? Thank you a lot in advance. Any information that helps me to decide will be welcomed. I preliminary checked route viena/milano/genova and train change in  Milano is not just question of one station. one must change twice, train+metro or metro+tram to get from Milano Rogoredo station to Piazzale Stazione Genova at least 45 minutes aditional travel time...
