Hi, I’d like to travel by train from Wales to Barcelona at the end of May. I’m up for spending some nights in other cities on the journey. Does anyone know the best route and the cheapest way to do this? I’ll also take any recommendations for places to visit/hostels to stay at on the way.
Hello can anybody advise on my planned trip? 2 adults 2 youths (12-15) London to Paris 2 nights 16-18th Aug 2022Paris to Perpignan for camping 10 nights 18th - 28th Aug 2022Perpignan to London 28th Aug 2022 The cost is higher for general tickets on Rail Europe/Trainline so I'm interested in the Interrail Pass but the more I read the more confused I'm getting! Hi all,I am currently travelling in Lithuania. I know that the connections are not possible from Poland and yet took a bus to come. However, the application shows that it is possible to travel through the inner main cities - for example, Vilnius-Klaupedia, Vilnius-Šiauliai…Moreover I read on related topics that it was possible to travel in Lithuania with Interrail. And on the website, it is written that bookings are not compulsory. However this morning, I took a train to Šiauliai and the controller validated my ticket, but she said I was missing the booking. Then I had to pay a bus to come back because they were no booking available anymore. My question is, how do you normally travel with Interrail in Lithuania, without the booking fees ? At the station, I was told that the booking was not for free. But in the app, it is not written that a booking is mandatory and as I wrote, it is even mentionned that it us not compulsory. Thanks in advance for your answers !
Hi, I’m thinking of travelling to Europe and just had a few questions: 1) If I buy a ticket from Paris to Zurich, would I be able to get off the train and explore on the stops along the way with the ticket I have, or would I have to get a separate ticket to get back on the route? 2) Would you recommend getting a travel pass or separate train tickets to travel from Paris, to Lucerne, to Montreux, to Milan, to Venice, to Florence to Rome. I am planning to stay in each city for 2-3 days. 3) Would you recommend taking a flight or the train for travelling between the destinations I mentioned Thank you in advance for your help!
We’ve all seen the news about the war in Ukraine and many of us have read articles about the amazing railway network all over the country. It’s inspired me to go there, see the beautiful sights and meet the people of Ukraine once the war is over. I’m sure lots of other people feel the same - it’s a beautiful country and one I didn’t know much about beforehand.Would it be an expression of peace, friendship, solidarity and warm hopes for the future to add the Ukrainian railway network to the global Interrail/Eurail pass at this moment in time? I certainly think it would be hopeful, a good advert for Ukraine and would be good for Interrailers too. Is there a movement to do this, and who should we contact if not?
Hello, my wife and I will be traveling throughout Europe this year for about a month. One area we are having trouble with is the route from Munich to Paris. We have a Eurail pass and the planner app but we are having trouble finding a good route to add to our itinerary and it is making it difficult to plan out. July 10th is when we plan to set out to Paris, does anyone have advice on this route? What trains to take? Is there any additional costs we need to plan for? (Reservations/high speed/night trains etc.) Any info would be helpful!
I am quietly working out my plans to travel from Brussels to Naples. The travel date is not fixed yet, but will normally be somewhere at the end of August ... and 1st week of September. The route I have in mind:Brussels North - Cologne (ICE)Cologne - Basel (ICE)Basel - Lugano (IC)Lugano - Milan (RE)Departure 6u32am, arrival 17u17pm.If I would like to reserve a seat for the ICE, I pay 5.30 euros for 1st class per person, per journey.I wouldn't want to do that, but my travel partner isn't convinced about trains, so maybe better to reserve a seat after all. Otherwise I risk having to change seats several times.1/Why does the SBB travel planner not show the train at 16u02 pm departing from Lugano in August ?Is that because not all travel times have been communicated from Italy yet?2/Would the SBB travel planner show a connection via Bern and Brig on August 26, because the 16:02 train from Lugano to Milan is not (yet) available?3/Is it easy to get from Milan Central to Milan Porta Garibaldi?O
Is the interrailing password included on trains in Paris? Or are there alternative transport methods. How would I get to the Eiffel Tower from where I’m staying (over 1hr walk) and how would I get round paris in general. Are there any bus passes I’d be able to get or would you say that it’s safe to be walking on my own? Thanks.
Hello,I do have a global pass.I’m trying to figure out how to add the cheapest (no reservation) and also the more scenic trips, but I think it’s pretty hard. And Yes, I used the option “no seat reservations required”.For example, my trip from Perpignan to Barcelona:>>> When I try to book the trip, I do only get the options with reservations, no other options (even when option “no seat reservations required” selected). Some travel agency gave me the suggestion to travel via “Port Bou” and then it works.> how can I know this kind of things. The app does not help me with alternative routes.(I cannot search for a travel agency every time a book a trip)> How do other people do this?> when I use “via” Port Bou in the app, I do not get any results ?? so, you have to know this extra stop and then make a trip: Perpignan - Port Bou and a separate trip Port-Bou - Barcelona.>>> I found out that this is a cheaper, but also a much more scenic route. > How can I know whic
Dear Interrail-CommunityI am currently traveling through Norway and Sweden, in detail today, April 11th from Oslo S to Gothenburg C and on Friday April 15th from Gothenburg C to Oslo S. On Friday there are no trains available from Gothenburg to Oslo. The train company does not provide any free alternatives, and they told me, even though I have an Interrail ticket, I will have to pay extra. Is there anything I can do about that, do you know anything? After talking to the customer service, where they told me they can‘t do anything about it, maybe somebody knows what possibilities there are.Thank you so much in advance!Best, Nina

Hey, my name is Teresa and I am planning my DiscoverEU trip through East Europe right now. At the end of April I want to start in Prague and then finish my trip in Athens in the end of May. Here are the places I want to visit. Prague, Warsaw, Budapest, Belgrad, Bukarest, Sofia, Thessaloniki and Athens.Unfortunately, I am unsure, because of the Ukrainian war, if it is safe and possible to travel and find trains that connect these places. Any answer or recommendation would be very kind and helpful. Thank you
As far as I can tell from other conversations in here, it is not necessary to book seat reservations between Chur and Tirano. Is that true and what about in the high season? We are traveling on 18 July and will be traveling all the way (3-4 hrs) to get to Tirano to spend the night. Any tips? It seems from both ÖBB and SBB websites that it is not possible to book at seat reservation. But is it not necessary?
