Hi there,I booked 3 month passes for two people last year when they were discounted for the Interrail anniversary and am now planning on using it.I’m very, very confused though. I created a trip in the web application at interrail.eu (called “My interrail trip”) and added myself and another person to it. But I don’t see this on the phone app, even though the pass has been added and activated on the phone.I created a trip (“Summer”) on my phone app and added myself and the other person as travelers there, but the other person can’t see the trip details on their phone and I can’t see it on the web app even though I created it.All I’m trying to do is start our 3 months on a known day and where necessary reserve seats for various journeys over the 3 month period. I gather from other posts that reserving through this site can be a bit hit and miss and will be using some train operators sites directly for that. What is the minimum I need to do in order to make sure that when we turn up o
I’m considering a long trip on an interrail starting in Edinburgh in the morning and ending up getting the sleeper from London Paddington to Penzance that same night.I’m intending to do this using only 1 day of a 4 day pass on the basis that the sleeper departs at 23:45 UTC, but from what I have seen mentioned here before is that the cut-off for a new day is 00:00 CET, which is 23:00 UTC.I don’t want to find out the hard way that this will cost me 2 days travel.Is there any way to know for sure that it will only take 1 day and not have to worry about what happens on the day?Thanks,z
Just for information - it turns out that while vy.no have cool new recliner seat/beds on their sleepers they are not included in the Interrail scheme so you have to book them at full price.With a 1st class pass at least - you can book a sleeper for 1000 NOK as a flat fee. this is good value. Or you can book a seat for free. Also good value, if not optimal for an overnight journey.On the leg that I wanted to book today there were no sleepers left so I asked about the lie-flat beds and the price would have been 1,949 NOK as they are not included in the scheme.I reckon this is probably just because the agreement hasn’t been updated as it makes no sense for 2 classes of travel to be bookable, but the 3rd one to be not bookable.
Hi there,Does anyone know if there’s some quirk with the booking engine for booking EN trains?Last night I mapped out options on oebb.at for every possible destination (NJ & EN) from Zurich for a particular weekend (28th or 29th or 30th April) yesterday and later in the night agreed the plans with the others who are traveling.Tonight I went to book Zurich-Zagreb and it shows no availability at all for any of the 3 days. Yesterday it showed availability for all. Sleepers & couchettes for 29th & 30th and seats only for 28th.I know it’s possible that they all suddenly sold out in theory, but in practice it’s not exactly likely that there was a sudden rush for this particular train, for all of these days, in less than 24 hours.Is there some quirk like seats being taken back off the market and then being put back on? Or is there some other explanation for this?Thanks,David
First of all - thanks to all on the forum for the clarifications provided over the last few days. You have eased my path significantly.What I think I’ve realised is that the term trip as used in the Interrail context seems to be misleading. Trip as used in the app is a collection of potential moves from point A to point B, point B to point C, but also point B to points D, E, F, G & H - it’s like a pick list or a wish list. You can define any number of journeys in a trip, and you can travel on some or all of them. So it’s not actually a trip. Your actual trip may go A-B-C-H, or maybe A-B-C-E.A trip in Interrail terms is only a list of possible travel legs which may or may not be taken.A trip in ordinary usage is an actual journey - “I’m planning a trip from Edinburgh(A) to Nice(D), via London(B) and Paris(C).” or “I took a trip from Edinburgh(A) to Milan(H), via London(B) and Paris(C). Can someone clarify something basic for me please? I can’t figure it out myself and at the moment my pass and plans are messed up enough as it stands.I have a 3 month global pass. My intention is to start traveling on April 1st and finish 3 months later at the end of June or start of July.During that time I will be making several distinct journeys - for example, to see the tulips in April, to see the midnight sun in June, bank holiday weekend in May.Am I able to create several trips - say “Tulips”, “Solstice”, “Weekend”?Or is it just that a trip is the record of all journeys undertaken during the entire 3 months and there can only ever be 1 trip for 1 pass?Thanks,David
Due to a potential change in circumstances, one of us may need to book and cancel (or not cancel, hopefully) a sleeper from Stockholm to Narvik in June.I can’t find the terms and conditions online, but it looks like the Interrail fares are refundable.I had to cancel and rebook an SJ fare from Copenhagen to Stockholm a few weeks back and out of an original charge of SEK286 I got SEK133 back, so I know there should be some refund. I just don’t know quite how much can be expected.Does anyone know what the calculation basis is for the refund? 133/286 isn’t a ratio I recognise - it’s about 46.5%.I will try to contact them tomorrow to find out, but if anyone knows it would help.Thanks,David
I see the question I was about to ask was answered a year ago here.We need to get between the 2 cities on Saturday 29th April and it seems like a TGV with a cafe might be a better bet than a regular (if comfortable and functional) Swiss train between the 2. Even if it’s only to get a cup of coffee in Switzerland at French prices.I thought that not-sitting in a TGV was a non-runner as a general principle - do they really let everyone on (a TGV) in Switzerland regardless of space?Alternatively, does anyone know of other trains between the two cities that are different than the regular SBB trains? Yes, I’m a train nerd.
I will be getting the TFW train from Holyhead to Cardiff in a couple of weeks on a 1st class Interrail. This particular train is the only TFW one that has an actual dining car according to their website - “Our first-class dining service and food bar service is currently only available on our Premier Service between Cardiff and Holyhead.”I understand that GWR are a good bet for a dining car on trains to London. It looks like their availability is limited this month - https://www.gwr.com/travelling-with-us/pullman-dining, but hopefully will be available when I plan on traveling.I think I heard somewhere that some UK carriers had dropped theirs in recent years, but I don’t know which ones still have them other than TFW and GWR. There have been a number of questions recently about upcoming track work in Sweden and people (including me) have said to check out the sj.se site for information on scheduled works.However, when I look at the page it talks of diversions and changes to schedules in April (last month) all the way back to February. I don’t see much for for May and nothing for June.Is anyone aware of any more recent or up to date information?
I’m looking to book the sleeper in mid-June (16th I think), but the availability is only showing as far as the middle of May at the moment. Correction, I just re-checked and it is showing dates forwards from June 21st with a gap for a couple of weeks back to the middle of May.Does anyone know if there are track works impacting this train? I can still make the connection by changing train in Boden and catching the day train to Narvik, but that involves a later arrival in Narvik which isn’t optimal as I’m heading onwards from there in a campervan. Given that the day train is running I guess it’s not trackwork, but the train just shows as not available on sj.se[edit] bahn.de shows several gaps in running order but indicates is should run on 16th JuneDays of operation: runs daily, not 18., 21. May, 23. until 29. Jun 2023, 5., 6. Jul, 8. until 13. Jul 2023, 15., 22., 29. Jul, 5. until 10. Aug 2023
I’m looking to book a sleeper from Paris to Vienna in January. They aren’t loaded yet, but I was checking prices for sample dates in November but they all seem to be full already or not available. I did find one date in October, but then others referred to track works meaning the train wouldn’t run.Does anyone have info (or know where to check) on the track works? If they continue on into January this may be the end of that particular plan.
I’m planning a multi-leg trip on one particular day, with the last leg being Eurostar from Brussels to St Pancakes. According to schedule I will arrive in Brussels (from Koln) with 90+ minutes to spare for the last train of the evening, so I expect I will be OK for the connection. I’m aware that in Eurostar terms this might be a tight connection, but it’s a timing I’m happy enough with.However . . . if one of the earlier trains is delayed and I get to Brussels too late, is this covered by CIV regulations? Will Eurostar accept my ticket and/or rebook me for a train the next morning? The information here seems to indicate this is the case, but it’s not 100% clear to me.
