⚠️ Several railway lines disrupted in the AlpsTrain Disruptions

The French national railways has announced that rail traffic between Modane and St-Michel-Valloire will be disrupted for the coming weeks due to a landslide that was reported in the French Alps on 27th August. This would impact train journeys on the route between Paris – Turin – Milan. Read more about it on the SNCF website. If you were planning to travel on the impacted route, we recommend using an alternative route via Zurich. Please note that the route from Paris – Zurich – Milan is currently facing a delay due to the closure of the Gotthard Tunnel in Switzerland (check post below for more information). Please make sure to check the SBB timetable shortly before departure of your planned journeys for up-to-date information. Additionally, due to weather conditions, multiple railway lines in the Alps are currently disrupted in Austria, Switzerland, and Italy. Validity of Deutschland-Ticket for neighbouring countries

Hi everyone!I have bought one Deutschland-Ticket and I find that there is RE11 train from Koblenz to Luxembourg. I am wondering if the ticket is still valid for this train or do I need buy another ticket to Luxembourg?There are also similar situations for other RE trains to some cities in neighbouring countries.Thanks in advance!

TER in France: do I need to make a reservation?

I’m travelling from Haute-Savoie to Barcelona. TGV for part of the leg, already reserved seats. I’m getting conflicting advice about booking the TER though - do I need to reserve a ticket or not? I know that booking seats is not necessary.

⚠️ Train derailment in Swiss Gotthard tunnel on route Zurich – MilanTrain disruptions

The Swiss National Railways has announced that a freight train derailment on 10th August in the Gotthard Base Tunnel located on the route between Zurich to Milan has caused severe track damage. SBB expects that the tunnel will only be available for passenger train travel from the beginning of 2024.  As a result, direct international trains will now take the scenic route across the mountains instead of the tunnel, resulting in 1 hour longer travel times. For this reason, SBB recommends catching a 1-hour earlier train from Zurich so as to not miss any further connecting trains. The following routes are the direct international Eurocity routes:Eurocity Zurich – Lugano – Milan/Verona/Venice/Genova Eurocity Basel – Luzern – Lugano – MilanFor all other international and domestic connections, there are hourly direct trains from Zurich to Chiasso taking the scenic route instead of the tunnel. ⚠️ Athens-Thessaloniki rail services in Greece will be unavailable for the foreseeable futureTrain disruptions

Storm Daniel caused devastating floods in parts of Greece, especially in the Thessaly region. The railway line between Athens-Larissa-Thessaloniki is severely damaged, and it will take a long time before trains can operate again.  Roads will be repaired faster; however, no replacement buses are possible for the Athens-Larissa-Thessaloniki rail service. Train service on the Larissa-Thessaloniki part of the line may resume before full service (Athens-Thessaloniki) is reinstated. For the most up-to-date information, please check https://www.hellenictrain.gr/en/announcements and HELLENIC TRAIN ticketing for more details about journeys in Greece.

transfer time at Brussels Midi

Is 20 minutes enough time to transfer from an arriving Eurostar train at Brussels Midi to a departing IC train to Liege. The Liege train is the last one of the day at about 23:00 and leaves from platform 11. Since we have the Eurail global pass, can we just board the IC train straightaway?

From Zermatt (Swiss) to Milano (Italy)

I’m planning a trip from Zermatt (Switzerland) to Miilano, Centrale (Italy) on August, 9.I’d like to know if the following route is OK with my Eurail pass.The route is not listed on the Eurail. com for seat reservation, but it is listed on SBB app (Swiss train). Discount interlaken - first - jungfraujoch

Hi I've been looking details every where on when We must use travel day or not to get travel discount in interlaken - first - jungfraujoch. Seems like the infos are confusing.  https://benefitsportal.eurail.com/benefits/jungfraubahn/One site tells that we need travel day to get discount. While on the thread of this community said that travel day are no need.   Which info is the correct one?Or can it be verified on the interlaken ost Station? Thank you in advance

Seat reservation issues Madrid to Narbonne on AVI train

I’m planning out my trip for March 24 and have managed to book seat reservation on all trains except AVI 9725 from Madrid to Narbonne in France. I am told a seat reservation is required but that it cannot be booked on the interrail websiteNot available from Interrail.euThis seat reservation can’t be booked on our website. Check 'More information' for other ways to book.I have accommodation in Narbonne that can only be cancelled 2 weeks before the journey starts so I’m a little nervous not getting my seat reservation before then.Any ideas on how I can reserve seats before I start my trip?

I’m glad that it’s finally possible to book seat reservations for Spanish AVE trains online.Is there any way of picking your own seat?  Or do you have to accept the seat that is automatically allocated to you?

Germany train strike

I was just I formed by nightjet that Germany will be going on strike from 2000 GMT on Sunday (May 14) until at 2200 GMT on Tuesday (May 16).  This is during the window in which we are traveling via train to Germany and then on to the Netherlands.  They did not say that our tickets were cancelled, just that I should postpone my travel.  Is that the same as canceling my ticket or will they still have limited service and I should continue as planned?  As for postponing that is not possible, we are on holiday travel and will need to get back to the Netherlands to catch a flight. How should I proceed?

The French national railways has announced that rail traffic between Modane and St-Michel-Valloire will be disrupted for the time being due to a landslide that was reported in the French Alps on 27th August. This would impact train journeys on the route between Paris – Turin – Milan for the next several months. Read more about it on the SNCF website.From 10th January, TGV trains will operate between Paris to Milan with a replacement bus from St Jean de Maurienne to Oulx after which passengers can continue their journey to Milan by train. The travel schedule including the replacement bus service with a slightly longer travel time will be updated on the Eurail Timetable and can also be found on the SNCF timetable. Your reservations will be valid for the whole route, including the replacement bus service. For more information, see this SNCF document.If you're planning to travel on the impacted route before 10th January, we recommend using an alternative route via Zurich. Please note that

Hello Community!My sister and i are planning our first interrail trip for 4 weeks in may and June. Because it will be our first interrail tour, we hope to get some help from you. Eurail welcomes the European Sleeper to our rail network 💤🚂

Imagine boarding in Brussels and waking up in Berlin with a whole day of exploration in front of you. From July 1st as a Pass holder you can include the latest night train on your Eurail/Interrail rail adventure by booking a seat reservation directly via the European Sleeper website. Missed Eurostar Paris to London due to SNCF cancellation

 I am travelling on a global pass one month first class fare between England (origin) France and Spain. I am travelling home from south of Barcelona to Newcastle, UK. I am travelling with an assistance dog which make things a little more complicated. I travelled from Barcelona Sants to Latour du Carol on the 14.30 train on Friday 21st April. I had also booked onwards travel to Paris on the night train from Latour du Carol (Pyrénées) to Paris, Fri 21st April, dep. 18.49 arriving 22nd April 06.33. My Eurostar was booked for Paris-London on Sat 22nd at 09.13. At 18.00 SNCF cancelled the night train and I was stranded in Latour du Carol. The staff at Latour were inexperienced and unhelpful and told me to head back to the next town (Puigcerda, 4 mins away by train, but in Spain) and stay the night, getting the train in the morning back to Latour de Carol. This was a bad idea as I arrived in puigcerda and there were no trains in the morning and no one to help. I got a cab back to Latour (€40

Suddenly some Swiss trains are not valid anymore

Using the interrail pass in Switzerland in January and now again in March I must experience that some SBB trains e.g. between Kreuzlingen and Weinfelden, or Weinfelden-Winterthur are not bookable anymore Lines which are marked as valid in the Swiss Interrail map Map of Switzerland_SBB.JPG (1124×795) (interrail.eu) can no longer be booked (and I booked them with my old pass in January): But it worked beforehand, e.g. example from January:and the exactly same train in March:How could this happen and why is there no information about on the page that not all SBB trains are supported anymore or at least a current map of supported trains?

Italy Train Strikes 13/07/23

I have train travel booked in Italy on the 13/07 (Interlaken to Milan via Domodossola). However I’ve just discovered there are national rail strikes planned in Italy for that day. The Domodossola - Milan train is still bookable on the Trenitalia site - does this mean it will still run, or is it likely to be cancelled last minute? Alternatively I’m considering booking a train that goes direct from Switzerland to Milan - does anyone know if these sorts of strikes affect inbound international services? Thanks in advance!

ALX train seat reservation

Hello, Im trying to buy a ticket from Munich to Prague but there is no seat reservation. I can only see a warning message “Reservation temporarily unavailable”. So is it normal? I don’t know it is okay to take a train without seat reservation. I should take a train with my family , and they have each suitcase. I’m afraid that we should move frequently whenever a person who has reserved a seat arrives. Is there a no reservation function at all? Can anyone who came first take a seat?
