Hello :) my girlfriend and I are planning to travel through Scandinavia with the interrail pass. We will start on the 15th of July and will be travelling for 2 months. I was wondering if any of you have some tips on what to see. Mainly we want to hike a lot, go kayaking, maybe rafting. Also we will take a tent with us, so that we can save some money. If you have any recommendations for hikes, places to see or anything about scandinavia please let us know. Christian
I’m currently looking into my Eurail trip to some less travelled to destinations. But I’m concerned some of the routes are NOT valid with a Eurail pass. For example, the map PDF lists Meydanekbez, Syria as a destination (via southern Turkey). This, among other places, is somewhere I’m interested in exploring but I’m questioning it’s accuracy, I’ve been told that the map lists a lot of places that you cannot reach. The last thing I’d want is to plan a trip and once I’m there find out my anticipated trip is not feasible!
Hi everyone!Me and a friend are currently planning our Italy trip in September and we are a little confused regarding the trains. For some reason the Trenitalia website won’t show any trains from Palermo (Sicily) to Napoli in mid-September. The last time we checked, there were still trains going, but now the website claims, that there are no trains going after the 11th. But I can’t imagine, that there are simply no trains. Does anybody have an idea why that is? We already booked our hostels and everything, so it would be nice to know if we can leave Sicily via train, as we would have to change a big chunk of our plans, if there are no trains...Thank you in advance! :)
My husband and I have booked flights to Europe, we are arriving in Amsterdam and leaving from Paris. We are thinking we will get a 10 day flex pass on Eurail? Does this work on night trains? our thoughts are to book three nights in Amsterdam, then book as we go? We have also tentatively booked the seat reservations for the Glacier express in Switzerland. From Amsterdam we are thinking, Brussels? Or night train to Vienna then Vienna day train to Switzerland? From Switzerland then head over to the south of France? Possible stay somewhere around Nice? Then Boudreaux? suggestions are greatly appreciated! We are thinking we need reservations for some of these trains but not sure how we book ? On Eurail?thanks so muchlooking forward to hearing suggestions cheersMB
Hello been looking around the site and looks like ill get the Global Pass for 7 days. I will be spending a month in Europe. 1 week with family in France then 1 week in Spain( Madrid, Barcelona, San Sebsatian), then one week Italy (Rome, Florence,Venice) then back to france and I fly to Norway for a week,Main question are the high speed trains included in the pass since I would like the shortest travel times and wouldnt want to be stuck on a standard train.
Hi!This summer I will be traveling with my boyfriend through Europe with our Interrail passes. We would love to go to Croatia and are planning our trip around this destination. Could you guys give me some advise about routes that would be nice to look at. We will ben traveling from the Netherlands. We are particularly looking in to night trains (with beds if it’s possible) because that will spare us some days. I find it really difficult to find routes with the Rail Planner app because it doesn’t seem to show the fastest routes or night trains. I also could not succeed in a reservation.Hope to hear from you!love,Fé
Germans goverment try to convince the Citizen of Germany to use more public transport. Because of that they started a quite unique offer. The “9€ Ticket” (per month) in the months June,July,August you can get for 9€ a ticket this is valid on all regionaltrains (no ICE,ECE,IC,EC,Flixtrain,Snälltoget), public bus services (no Flixbus,Pinkbus), trams, metro in 2nd class. You can use the 9€ticket for example for daytrips fromBerlin to Potsdam, explore Berlin with the touristic buslines 100,200,300 :) , have a nice ferry ride on the “Wansee” from Wansee to Kladow.Munich a daytrip to Dachau, Salzburg,Kufstein,Berchtesgarden,NeuSchwarnstein CastleAnd many many more destinations. For the Railfans here in this community just note that even some NarrowGauge Rails like the “Harzer Schmalspurbahnen” decided to accept the 9€ ticket.
Hi,I would like to travel from Skopje to Thessaloniki in August. I know that the train is not an option on this route so I will have to take the bus. However, I cannot seem to find any information online on International busses departing from Skopje. I did find a Rule Turs bus bookable on busticket4.me or getbybus on Tue, Thu, Sat: Skopje - Thessaloniki 8.30-13.05, but I don't know how reliable these sites are as I could not find a (working) site of Rule Turs itself. Does anybody have more information/experience regarding this route?Thank you in advance.
Is the steam train worth it, or is this very touristic with entertainment (that’s not really what I’m looking for ;)But if it also can be done without the entertainment, and worth it, how can I add it in my mobile pass, if I search the route (Jesenice - Nova Gorica) it seems like regular trains only.Is it good to make a return trip in 1 day?thank you,
Hi, I would like to travel from biarritz to the barcelona - Valencia region, preferably via Northern Spain( Bilbao- San Sebastián) but that seems almost impossible. Do I really need to take the bus to get there? do you have suggestions for me?thanks and kind regards from Tamara
Me and my boyfriend are planning an interrail trip from Amsterdam to Athene. We want to travel from Amsterdam to Innsbruck and from Innsbruck to Zurich. Thereafter we want to travel to Serbia to continue our journey to Athene, but we can not find a connection between Zurich or another place in Swiss and Belgrado in Serbia. Has anyone done this before and can tell us how we can travel between Swiss and Serbia? Thanks in advance! :)
We want to travel (via France) in Spain and Portugal with the interrail-ticket in July and August.Do you have any tips for these countries? For example we found out that in France they only have limited capacities for interrailers and now we are way too late for reserving high-speed-trains in France, which is a big problem. If we would have known that earlier… So maybe there are similar things we should know about Spain and Portugal?E.g. is it true that we can reserve seats only at local train stations in Spain and Portugal? Is it possible that then they are sold out as well?Is it possible to explore also smaler towns and villages with the interrail-ticket in these countries or is the railroad network too bad? Are there maybe buses we are allowed to use? Thanks a lot for sharing your experience!
Hi all! My partner and I are planning a trip to Europe for about a month and a half this summer. We’re trying to figure out ticketing and making sure we get to the location we need to. I think our main confusion comes when having to find or book tickets for lines not necessarily linked to Eurail. Basically our plan is:Madrid→Barcelona→Nice→Milan→Florence→Riomaggiore→Rome (flying to) Split→Ljubljana→Venice→Interlaken→Frankfurt→Amsterdam→Brussels→Paris→LondonMost of these don’t seem to be issues but with finding certain trains like Barcelona to Nice we seemed to have uncertainty around the specifics of it all. Neither of us have have done everything like this so we are just trying to iron this out with having as few hiccups as possible. Looking for any valuable information, tips or advice anyone has!
Hey All!This is a late July timeframe, super flexible.I’m looking at a Sofia (Bulgaria) start (or Thessalinki Greece). Was curious about North Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, (pretty sure EUrail doesn't operate in Albania). I see that its hard-impossible to get into Serbia or Bosnia by train at the moment, and seeing similar situations for Kosovo, North Macedonia (unsure about Montenegro), so was just curious if any expert here knows for sure.Surfing Seat61 too long now (excellent site though) and I feel like I’m slowly losing my mind haha. Was thinking that since Bosnia and Serbia seem hard/impossible by train, maybe there is way to go Sofia to Skopje(North Macedonia) to Kosovo to Montenegro and then up through Croatia to Slovenia? If I can’t see these Balkan countries by train very easily, I think I’ll just have to put them on the future to-do list and at least try to see the north of the Balkan region by going across the top of Croatia towards Italy, which I b
Hola!! Muchas gracias!! :)
