The 1975 Interrail trip I was brought up in Mastrick, an Aberdeen council housing estate, in the early 60s with my mum Elizabeth a nurse, my dad Angus a bricklayer and my older brother, Kenneth. In primary and secondary school, I always enjoyed geography: in primary it was the map of the world, flags and capital cities, and at secondary it was looking at cultures, rivers, mountains, deserts and natural disasters. Like many others at that time, my interest in countries, cultures and famous attractions were common, perhaps because they were not accessible, and it was another world away. One major influence came when I picked up the National Geographic when I was in the waiting room for an appointment. This publication opened the world to me. What I read was magical; the photography was literally out of this world. In the 1960s, all these well-known European countries and cities were a dream away, like so to many of my school friends and neighbours. There was not a lot of money around and
Hi all!I want to go on a regional train tomorrow from Modena to Parma as part of my Italy interrail trip. However, I only found 3 regional trains departing at 9, 10 and 11 AM. Checking the trenitalia website, I could see that there are many more trains that do not appear in the timetable.I know the possibility of adding them to the trip manually as I have already done it, but I want to make sure that doing so won't be a problem if an inspector checks my ticket (I say if because the inspectors don't always go by, specially in regional trains). If you have ever taken this solution, could you tell me your experience? Thanks in advance. Best,Pablo.
Hi! I printed out the map showing a broad selection of available railway lines with the global pass. This is showing a connection going from Bayonne-Biarritz-Hendaye-Irun-San Sebastian, but when using the planner (app and web), every route passing from France to Spain is going down via Narbonne. Is it possible to travel from France to Spain via the west coast of France to the north coast of Spain?
Hello everyone, I’m planning a family trip next year (2 adults, 2 children). We’re leaving from Manchester and hoping to get around Poland/Czech Rep/ Austria and back in 9-11 days. Does anyone have any advice on how close to Poland / Prague I can get on my first travel day? Has anyone done a similar trip? I’d like to take at least one sleeper train - can anyone recommend / advise on a sleeper train for any part of that journey? Looking forward to any input. Thanks all.
Hi, Just a real quick y/n question, couldn’t find the exact answer anywhere: I am a German citizen, currently living in Ireland and I want to use the Interrail pass to travel FIRST FROM Ireland via UK to Germany and THEN again FROM Germany Switzerland. So can I use the inbound travel first and the outbound trip second? Thanks a lot Olaf

Hi! I am traveling to Europe 20th January (Rome) to 26th February (Rome). My itinerary is Rome, Florence, Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Londres, Amsterdam, Berlín, Praga, Venecia and Roma. Is it possible in train only? I have been looking other options but I'm more inclined to use the Eurail Global pass.
Hi all, I am new at interrailing, Very exited to start traveling! The plan is to go to the Nordic area, specifically, from Amsterdam to Stockholm (Sweden)- > Oslo (Norway) to → Kopenhagen (Denmark). To go from Amsterdam to Stockholm it will be 16 to 20 hours. So I will kinda miss a day!! My proposal is: get a flight to Stockholm and from there I start with interrailing. Is that possible? So can I start with another city than stated as country of residence (Amsterdam) (inbound outbound) on your pas. Amsterdam→ STockholm: catch a flightStockholm → Oslo: InterrailOslo→ Kopenhagen : InterrailKopenhagen → Amsterdam: Interrail I just don't have many days that I can miss.I hope to here from you guys… So I can start booking. Hey hey everyone! It is really nice to be here :) I’m currently looking into the Greek islands pass, and I wanted to know if there’s any page where I can find the ports for the ferry’s? It would be cool to have this handy to book the accommodation close to the ports. Also, tips about the best itinerary from Italy to the Greek islands would be much appreciated! Thank you so much, and nice travels! :)
Hi, I have a question about using a train from VY from Sweden to Norway. The following train is not shown in the Railplanner app, but it does appear on the Swedish (and Norwegian) railways site VY:R20 from Gothenburg to Oslo on 20.9.22 from 10:15 to 13:51https://www.vy.no/en /booking/customize?orderId=f6736cd8-50f4-4672-8072-057d2c1979bcIn the Railplanner App there are just trains with a change in Kil. These connections are not displayed to me on the VY website due to construction work. Can I use the train with an Interrail ticket or do I have to buy a extra ticket? Thanks for your help.
We have just returned from a long weekend in Monte Carlo, but couldn’t find any E* from Paris. We could though find a couple of options from Lille.A local train from Monte Carlo to Nice Ville in good time for the morning TGV to Paris Gare de Lyon. Then a RER transfer to Gare de Nord took about 30 mins for late afternoon TGV train to Lille (Connection time was 1 hr) Only stressful time was getting a ticket for the RER - easy once I got to the front of the queue for the machine.A mid centre 4* hotel and an excellent evening meal at on of the many Brasseries within 10 minutes walk ( a little expensive I admit). Then we had the morning in Lille centre, including an excellent Breakfast in another of the great Brasseries at half the price of the hotel. We then walked up to Lille Europe (via EuraLille shopping centre) - about 15 mins walking plus time in EuraLille for a coffee and a dash around Carrefour. Check in for 1335 E* started at 1230 and was a bit slow for passport checks but otherwise e
Hi all, A friend and I are heading to Split where we'll meet up w other friends on Friday (29 July). We're currently exploring Ljubljana and wondered if anyone had any recommendations for places to visit along the route Ljubljana-Split? We'd like to break the trip up a bit to avoid one long, monstrous travel day.Grateful for your tips!
After doing some research I’ve found that the train from belgrade to Budapest stops in novi sad and that there’s also a rail replacement bus. Does anyone know anything about this bus (note travelling in early September):can I get it from Belgrade or is it from novi sad ?is the bus a night bus ?is it included in the inter rail ticket ?would it be better to get the flexi bus from Belgrade to Budapest for 15€ since I’m on the 15 day in 2 months tickets. also does anyone know if the train from Belgrade to zagreb is running yet as an alternate route ? Thanks in advance, Harry.
