Get ready to travel

hiI need to get from Geneva to Montreux on the morning of Aug 6th because I have the panoramic train from Montreux to Interlaken booked for 9:34am. Originally I saw a direct train at 8:10am from Geneva to Montreux that would get us there in time for the 9:34 train. I don’t see that train anymore instead there is 7:42am train with one stop. Do train schedules change often? Or can expect this to be final?I am wondering if we should just get to Montreux the night before instead so that we are relaxed for our 9:34am scenic train? thanks

I’ve tried booking seat reservations for vienna to zurich (for 19th September) both using the eurail website and the OBB website but I’m having no success. On the OBB website it shows seats are only available for part of the journey but when I check ticket availability there appears to be plenty. When I use the eurail website my reservation comes back saying theres a problem with one section of the journey. Help!!

Hi there,I tried to organise a trip from Antwerp (Belgium) to Amersfoort (Netherlands). It shows on the last part of the trip as 'BUS34230‘. But next to it shows ‘Train’.Does anyone know this is BUS or TRAIN?Thanks for the help!Xufang 

I had my app set up for a trip in September with all the planned trains entered onto the ‘My Trip’ which was linked to the pass, although I had not yet activated the pass.I also bought a second pass for a trip in December which I loaded onto the app and created a new trip which I linked to this second pass.I’m not sure what went wrong then.  Clearly I did something wrong as  all the information that I had entered onto ‘My trip’ for September disappeared.    I tried to sort things out and got into a bit of a mess.  (At one point I managed to create a ‘Duplicate Trip’ which I deleted.)  I, then, decided that it would be wise just to delete the pass and the associated Trip for December holiday and only put these onto the app once the holiday in September was over.I, then re-entered all the journeys that had disappeared from the September trip.This morning I look again at my app and what I see is:(a) the pass that I will be using in September (g

Hello my dear fellow Interrailers, I have some thing to ask before i book my tickets. I am a father of 6 kids and family of 8. My childrean are 10 years, 7 years, 4 years, 2 and half, 2 and half (twins) and 1 year.  I am buying 2 Adult tickets and 4 kids ticket as i cant buy more do i need to buy ticket for 2 and half and 1 year if they traveling wiht us. please can any let me know. Hi my dear fellow Interrailers, I have a question:I already planned and activated my journey from Hamburg to France and back. I wanted to go from Paris to Mannheim with the ICE and researved seats, but now I’d rather go one stop further to Frankfurt. Do you think I have to delete my journey plan and activate the new ticket or is it possible just to keep sitting this one stop in the ICE, even if I have to stand for the one station? Since I’m travelling with my kids and have several trains on the day before Paris I’m not so keen on deleting an re-activating everything.Thanks for your comments :)Nadia

I would like to book the night train on August 24th but that is not possible. It always just says that the train is temporarily available. Even if I look in June I get the same information. what's going on? Have somebody any Information here?

Hi there We need to book a seat reservation from Split to Zagreb on the 10th of August.  Reading the information on here I understood that this could be done via the OBB website but I can’t find it on there. According to Seat61 there are 2 trains a day from Split to Zagreb and on the Croatian railways website I can see both of them at 0823 and 1404. But when it comes to a seat reservation on the OBB website I can only see the 0823 one and it is the 1404 I need.Will it, therefore, be a case of having to book the seat reservation when we get to Split at the train station there?  Just seems weird one train is showing on OBB but not the other.

Hello, Is Italy’s trans-siberian railway included with the pass? I cannot find, say, Abruzzo on the rail planner app, although Sulmona is on there. Thanks!

Travelling from Salzburg to Ljubljana on a Friday in August. From what I understand we are ready to board with our passes and don’t need to reserve seats, but can if we wish to. Would you advise booking or do you think we will be ok without reservations? Would like to save money where possible, but equally am happy to pay if it’s worth it.  Thank you :-) 

I’ve just seen the advertisment for the 20% discount for Interrail passes.   I went onto the site  to purchase two 2nd class 7 day in month Senior passes. I get to a page which says:How would you like to receive your Passes? One can choose between mobile and paper versions, but the paper version is the one currently ticked.  I tick “mobile app” and press “Proceed”, but it reverts to Paper. And unless I stick with the Paper version I can’t proceed..However it clearly says on the site: “Now available as a mobile Pass” Any suggestions as to what is going wrong, and what I should do? Thanks, Peter

Good day!   I'm about halfway through a 2-month, 15-day stint on Interrail.  Now attempting the UK, and the ACPrail site is giving me an error that is not user-friendly enough to help me correct the error.  Trying to book from Harwich to London using https://www.acprail.com/seat-reservations/.  I have confirmed that tickets are available on this train on the Greater Anglia there: and I can happily buy them at full price; however ACPrail is preventing me from getting a reservation only, on any train.Have been to many countries, and was able to book Eurostar, even the Stena Line, without a problem.Pre booking error: Reservation on this train is currently impossible or the fare selected is not available anymore.Please advise.  Thanks in advance !

Hi there, does anybody knows about this? My pass and all trips disappear from app - already twice when on train. I am offline generally. mostly it works but when not, I risk to be fined while I payed 850€ for the pass.. I hate the app coz it is mega complicated and does not work… thxx!

I still have a few travel days left and have already returned home. So I no longer have entry and exit dates. Can I still use the remaining travel days abroad? Arie de B.

I know there are similar threads, but if someone could help give me peace of mind I would appreciate it. I got the reservation for the 457 Nightjet departing Prague at 22:03 and getting to Hungary at 8:29 on 08/19. I got the 4 person couchette reserved and want to clarify that I do not need anything else apart from activating my eurail pass on that travel day. In addition, would you advise booking more train reservations for routes im taking. My route is Prague->Budapest->Ljubljana->Venice->Florence->Cinque Terre->Naples->Amalfi Coast->Milan->Nice->Barcelona->Valencia->Madrid->Sevilla. It will span mainly throughout September and October using the 2 month 15 travel day pass. I’d like the flexibility, but if you think any of those may be highly advisable to reserve in advance please let me know. Thank you!

Hi. From Canada; I will be traveling in Europe on a Eurail pass. I have purchased a Eurail pass and I have downloaded the Eurail App. I was hoping to rely on occasional wifi access in Europe - I expect to have Wifi access every evening, at hotels. I do not want to pay for a mobile data package. Do I need mobile data access to board a train? Or can I simply book my ticket the day before (on my Eurail Mobile App) and then show it at the train station (without needing to use mobile data at the station)?David

Needing to travel between Switzerland and Amsterdam during the line closure. Usually it seems quite an easy route; either direct from basel or a change in frankfurt from bern. However, looking on the DB website the amount of transfers, which includes busses, seems like a nightmare. The other option is night train, which I do not want to pay for.What route could be recommended to avoid 2+ transfers this summer? I'm open to travelling slightly out of the way to avoid this but as long as the journey could be completely within a day I could try it. Ideally I do not want to uses buses or change train more than once.

Travelling Milan to Tirano to board Bernina - I understand buses run from Colico to Tirano (due to maintenance works).Does that mean I can use Eurail pass on the bus as well and I do not have to purchase tickets for the bus? Do buses allow luggage? We have 2 big suitcases which we have to carry all the way to Lucerne :)

Hi, my partner and I are interrailing for the first time next week through Italy and Switzerland. We chose interrail rather than advance tickets because we wanted to have some flexibility with the timing of our train journeys (we’ve booked our  accommodation but wanted to be able to spend a bit more time in one city and catch a later train if we wanted to). However, we’re now a bit confused with the seat reservation system, particularly in Italy! Is it still possible to turn up and book onto the next train or do should we make seat reservations now? Is there any way of finding out how many seats are left on a train??Our itinerary is:Pompei to FlorenceFlorence to BavenoBaveno to ZermattZermatt to Lausanne (for onward travel back to London later that day)

I have noticed a new type of remark in the interrail planner (both app and web) for trains crossing the border to France, saying “Allow extra time for bording”. And if I click it, it says “Allow 20 minutes for border and bag checks”. For security measures, boarding is possible until 5 minutes before departure, so arrive at the station early.”What has changed?I know that France has introduced passport-check during the Olympics, but this message comes for all scheduled trips (until December) in and out of France (in both directions).I am fine with a passport-check, but what do they mean by “bag check”? Is it X-ray machines like at the airport? I am bringing a backpack with camping equipment (for hiking in the Pyrenees), that may or may not look suspicious in an X-ray machine.I can’t find anything about any extra border check anywhere else than the interrail planner. If I look at SNCFs planner, is says that I can board the train up to 2 minutes before depart
