To ask all about our Passes, reservations & more
I have a couple of questions about the tickets (seat reservations) I received from Trenitalia booked via Interrail. The ticket says we reservated First Class tickets, but we reservated second class (our pass is for second class). Why? We are all 16/17 years old and is says we are adults. Is this correct?
How would it work if the country of residence, like the Netherlands, has electronic gates when you exit the station and return later to catch the next train?
It is stated on the web that the global pass can be used to travel in one’s country of residence during 1 outbound and 1 inbound trip per travel day. I have some questions about the technicality. The “Travel Diary” example lists “Brighton-London St Pan” as an example for the in/outbounds. This is strange in itself, since they are both in the same country, UK/England. In the case someone wants to travel from Station A1 to Station B, via Station A2 in the same country as Station A1, and it is the country of residence → Does he/she have to write A1 - A2 then A2-B separately in the “My Trip” section, or just “A1 - B”? Can the holder exit station A2 in the process and return later to catch the next train to Station B? If the answer is yes, how it would work if the country of residence, like the Netherlands, has electronic gates? Will exiting Station A2 accidentally be counted as doing a trip inside one’s country of residence and thus violating the rules?
I’m currently in Spain and trying to book a night train from Switzerland. It allows me to pay for the reservation but it says it’s going to send me a paper ticket. However I don’t have a fixed address and afraid that paper ticket will get lost somewhere. Isn’t there any option to get any electronic ticket or have them hold it at the station in Zürich? I can just travel across Europe and arrive in Zürich not knowing whether I have a night train or not. pS - i’ve tried calling the help number for OBB several times and it’s just an endless loop of German. I don’t know if they ever answer at all. Healthier your instructions are slightly off. Pressing one doesn’t do anything at all. Also the new longer open 24 hours. But I’m not sure if they take 20 minutes to answer or two hours. And it’s running down my Skype credit every time I’m just sitting here on hold because it’s strangely much more expensive than calling other foreign countries.
Hi guys! I’m planing a trip starting 13 July 2021 to Spain, France and Italy. I’m thinking of geting the global pass. My question is regards to how much flexiblity do I get with trains if I’m going to smaller villages. I’m Planning on 16 July to Take a train from Barcellona to Carcossone France and then to Paris. (Leave Barcelona early in the morning and spend the day in Carcossone and then get to Paris late at night. Does this seem like a good idea? Will I get flexible times to and from a small city like Carcossone using Eurail? I want to make sure I can get to Carcossone with a cheaper ticket and be there in a good time but also leave Carcossone to get to Paris late at night (which i’m fine with). Thank you guys so much!
I am trying to book seat reservations trains in France. I need pass cover numbers for myself and my husband to do this. How do I get a pass cover number for a digital Eurailpass? The trains are TGV 6074 Nice Ville to Marseilles St Charles and IC 4764 Marseilles St Charles to Toulouse Matabiau on May 6th.
Hello, I have a problem because I really need to do some reservations for next week, but the reservation tool on the website doesn't work and I can't do it in the app as well. And I can't do it on any other website nor will I have the time to buy it at the station. The website just does not load or closes itself again and again when I try to write the directions. Can you help me please! It is urgent
Hello, we are actually in a train from Frankfurt to Berlin, without reservation needed but the controller asked us a ticket with a QR code to scan it. But we thought that the QR code was only for train with reservation ! So we went on the rail planner but we didn’t find any QR code, and the controler start to ask us to pay 100€, until I checked a second time on the rail planner and we finally find the QR code who appeared few minutes after. It’s that a bug of interrail ? Or do we have to print all the tickets with the QR code even with trains without reservation ?
I added a journey to our mobile pass from Paris to Bayeau and return in September (14/16). The system says I need a seat reservation. However, it will not allow be to make a seat reservation. How do I make a seat reservation? I would like to do it before I travel rather than waiting until Wearrive in Paris.(I made seat reservations before but there seems to be a problem now.) jim
I bought a mobile eurail pass on Nov 20 but apparently the pass is being shipped to my place in the US; since I have to leave on Dec 12 I’m concerned that the pass may not arrive in time. There is no number to call, the chat is useless and so is the website if you need to clarify things about your pass. Who do I turn to to have them email me my pass as I had originally requested when I made the purchase? Overall, a very bad experience.
I wasn’t able to book a nightjet ticket for July on the Amsterdam to Vienna route via ÖBB as there weren’t any routes showing in my search. So I asked ÖBB’s customer services why this was, and got a reply today: “The reason why the Nightjet from Amsterdam to Vienna is not bookable is due to construction works. The timetable still has to be worked out for this. Therefore, please keep trying to book the desired journey.” Does anyone know about this, and when the timetable is likely to be “worked out”? I am a bit confused about the advice to keep trying! I’ve got a whole family holiday resting on very specific travel requirements, so would appreciate a bit of help understanding if I should just find an alternative if if it’s likely I’ll be able to book this route in a few months. I could ask ÖBB but the last reply took 11 days so thought it would be faster here. Thanks!
Similar problem has been experienced by others on this forum, but I wondered what the resolution was .We've used 2 days travel on our interrail ticket. Today, on a non-travel day, my wife's (iphone) app has allocated a 3rd travel day. This 3rd travel day has been given the same date day 1 of our travel. Plus, it says that this is also an outbound/inbound day (as is day 1).So now she doesn't have enough travel days to get home. Plus we she doesn't have the required inbound day available for travel back to the UK.Contacted customer services but we need resolution in the next 36 hours. Not confident of this getting sorted and convinced we'll have to buy extra tickets.
Hi, I’ve seen on the website eurail.com that Estonia and its railways Elron should be covered in the Global Pass. My plans hae changed a bit and I’m currently in Estonia but I’m unable to find any of the Estonian towns in the official Eurail timerables and thus can’t “purchase” any ticket. What can I do? My Pass will be valid from tomorrow. Has anything changed and Estonia isn’t part of Eurail anymore? Thanks
Hi! I’ve been trying now for days to book seat reservations for a departure through the interrail.eu site but I am not succeeding. I’ve managed for most legs of our trip but there is one connection which I can’t book (see picture). As it’s a cross-border-train between Germany and France I’ve been in touch with both DB and SNCF. SNCF could see that there were interrail tickets still available but they could not make a booking over the telephone with my Swedish credit card. DB said that it should be possible to book through them via phone, but they did not succeed with that particular departure (however, it would work if we chose a later or earlier version). Do you have any advice on how I could proceed? When searching I see that there is something weird with the 1131-departure for many dates…. What we need is 4 seat reservation Karlsruhe to Paris Est 1131-1405, Saturday June 18th. Does anyone have any advise?
Hi, I have been trying to book 4 tickets from Paris (Gare de Lyon) to Barcelona-Sants on the 23rd of December (at 10:14 am). Every time I try to checkout to pay, the website tells me that there is an error and that I have to find other options. I tried to book in every train on the same day and on the next day, but still the error message appears. Is there any other way to book those seats?
How long does it take for Eurail Customer service to provide Pass Cover Number for mobile pass?First time novice holidaying in France. Bought 2 Eurail Mobile Pass hoping to use for the Paris - Avignon trip planned in late May. I’m having problem reserving seats using the Eurail App or the Interrail.eu web site, or the RailEurope web site. There is just no price listed to proceed with the seat reservation. See screen shot below from Eurail. In reading various posts in the forum, it appears having a Pass Cover Number may help to allow to reserve seats. I emailed Eurail Customer Service some 2.5 days ago, also sent a request through this forum, for 2x PassCoverNumber for our 2x Mobile Pass, but so far, haven’t received any info from Eurail, apart from the (not helpful) generic acknowledgement email that “we’ve got your email”…If there is Eurail customer service rep on this forum who could provide me Pass Cover Number, that’d be good. thanks. I’ve already spent hours and hours reading b
Are there others who have trouble booking seat reservations for your Interrail trip during the summer holidays? I will travel in mid-July. I have never had any problems booking seat reservations with Interrail in the past, which I have tried several times. The Website and the App just stand and search without any result. I have problems both in the Railplanner App and on the website www.interrail.eu I am trying to book seat reservations between Bologna and Munich /day time. My itenary is Copenhagen- Basel-Zurich-Chur-Tirano-Montorosso-Bologna-Munchen-Salzburg-Copenhagen. However, it only says in the App that it is Bologna-Munich that requires a seat reservation. But is it not also a good idea to book a seat reservation on the Copenhagen-Basel and Salzburg-Copenhagen routes? I am eager to receive some good advice.
Hello all, I am trying to book reservations online which I really need to do soon but the interface always says“Your Pass cover number doesn't look right”I already tried out all numbers I could find on my paper pass and in the online reservation. Issuer is DB (CIV 1080), as it says on the pass. Could the issue maybe be that I did not purchase the pass myself but the travel department of my employer did it?
I’m thinking about using my pass to board the Vienna to Kiev sleeper, but I might prefer to do so from Budapest rather than Vienna.Of course Ukraine isn’t in the Interrail pass area, but you can use a pass to cover the section up to the border, which is really useful. This isn’t something I found out myself, it’s from this helpful blog: https://railguideeurope.com/nightjet-eurail/Anyway, to cut to the chase, the price from Vienna, for two passholders sharing a compartment, bought at oebb.at, is €114. However, this can only be bought from Vienna (not from any other station en-route) and the ticket can only be collected in person within Austria (so I would probably have to do the journey west-east, in order to have been to Austria first). To buy from or to Budapest, the only option is to go with an agency like Polrail, which doesn’t count any Interrail discount, and charges a whopping 1220zł (€270), plus whatever postage of the physical ticket costs to where you live (unless you collect i
