Hi!I interrailed abit through eastern/central europe last year, not with the pass at its so confusing haha. I always just booked trainticket and seat a day or two before and then I went to the next city with the exception from Vienna to Budapest which I had to delay for one day as the one I wanted was full. This worked perfectly. But I’m I’m considering taking a trip from early june for a month trough abit more expensive routes and would need some help finding routes that often dont get booked far in advance as I dont like planning too far ahead. I was thinking maybe going something like this:-Barcelona 3-4 nights-Nimes 2 nights (train to Nimes)-Nice 3-4 nights (flexibus/train to Nice)-Milan 3 nights (train to milan)-Venice 3-4 nights (train to milan)-Ljubljana or Zagreb 2-3 nights (bus to Ljubljana seems like best option?)-Split 2-3 nights (train to Split)-Dubrovnik 2-3 nights (ferry to Dubrovnik)-And to Athens, but unsure on how. Maybe plane from split or dubrovnik? Would love to bus
Hi allHoping someone on here may have done similar before and we can benefit from their experience! We wish to start our 2 month global pass starting approx 26th March by visiting / hopping between max 3 Greek islands, spending about 3 nights on each island. We are trying to plan the simplest short travel plan directly from one island to the next, ideally avoiding having to go to the mainland eg Piraeus in between islands. Around our starting dates, we can only fly from Ireland to Corfu, Athens, Chania or Santorini. Of those, our preferred ‘start points’ are Corfu or Santorini. (we have already visited Crete, Athens and Santorini). After the Greek islands, our next destination is Amalfi coast, Italy. So, after our Greek islands, we need to get to Athens, to fly to Naples, Italy or alternatively get to Patras or Igoumenitsa to ferry to Bari, Italy. Some inter-island ferries are understandably limited in frequency due to being low season so itineraries which are straightforward in the summer,
Hi,I’m travelling from Prague to Geneva.I’m taking the sleeper train Prague (18:21) to Zurich (08:20) overnight then Zurich to Geneva on that same day.I know the first part of the journey counts as 1 travel day because it’s overnight. What about the 2nd part of the trip? Is this considered as a 2nd travel day or is this still part of the first travel day? They need to be booked/reserved separately.Thanks.
Hi,The UK in my country of residence.I'm travelling from Edinburgh to Paris (Edinburgh-London by national rail + London-Paris by Eurostar).Do the 2 trips count as 1 outbound journey in my own country or is this 2 and I need to book the Edinburgh to London separately please? This would be over 2 days (overnight in London) as I'll be heading straight to Prague from Paris.I won’t need the ‘return’ in my own country at the end of the trip. Thanks
Hi everyone!I did some railing last Summer, two weeks with my now 10-year-old son and two one-week-trips by myself… I/we enjoyed it so much we decided to go again this summer, this time going by plane in the beginning and end. (Taking ferry+train from Finland both ways takes a lot of time). So, now we have a plane to Madrid on 3rd June and a plane to Copenhagen from Bucharest on the 14th June. What places do you recommend we visit in between? To narrow that down:We’ll probably take the night train to Romania (or indeed straight to Bucharest) from Vienna. So it’s maybe more about what places to visit between Madrid and Vienna, of course we can do something else if you give a great suggestion! Last Summer, we already saw a lot (Berlin, Munich, Rijeka, Austrian alps, Zurich, Paris) so I figured we’d go another route this year. Maybe Madrid-Barcelona-Marseille-Nice-Milano-Venezia? What are some of the great places to visit - also with a child - in those areas…? Regards, Ilkka
I am trying to book tickets from Amsterdam to Zurich with bicycles, it doesn’t seem to be available on ANY date, is this something that is no longer possible does anyone know? The OBB website does not suggest it has stopped, yet I can’t believe every date for 6 months is fully booked! Have they blocked this option?
HiWe’re using our passes to go from Scotland to Sardinia. We will be sailing from Livorno with Corsica Ferries. We want to walk to the terminal but Google maps suggest we have to take a long detour north to walk there from the town centre. Has anyone else walked to this ferry and is this route correct!thanks
Hi, we are a couple in our 60s travelling from Istanbul in early April to Budapest. Can anyone recommend some routes through Sofia or Bucharest . I know that the train to Bucharest takes 20 hours with a change of train in the middle of the night.Any small towns or cities recommended on either route. Many thanks.
Hi, this summer we will be travelling with Interrail passes to Greece from Utrecht, the Netherlands. We are Interrail newbees and wondering if you have som advice on :What is the best way to travel? I am travelling from Australia in mid April with my 11 year old autistic son. We are travelling for 16 weeks through 11 countries starting in France. We wish to do a number of train journeys within each country not really big cities. We are visiting France, Spain, Morocco, portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, UK and Malta in that order.I have used the Traineline App and costed out just the main country journeys which exceeds theGlobal Pass however I'm struggling to work out the reservation cost associated with each eurail pass to see which is the best option. Our country dates are fixed but we have flexibility within each country so want to know if we can also use a Global pass to travel from say Porto to Lisbon as an example.Sorry for long question but the challenges are great for this journey.Thank you
We want to travel from the north of Italy (Turin) back home in July. We are with 3 children so we need a reservation but the only trains I can find are the TGV to Paris and than to Rotterdam/Amsterdam. But the reservations are very expensive. When I search for example in march there also connections to Basel-Frankfurt-Utrecht. Will that trains become later in the interrail-app? Does somebody knows that?Karlijn
Good morning,The Rail Planner app no longer displays ferry trips. Is this normal? The route was included in 2022 but no in 2023 it seems… For example, the Helsinki-Stockohlm route is no longer available. Nor does the Rovaniemi-Stockolm route because the ferry between Turku and Stockholm no longer exists in 2023.Can you please give me more details?Do you know why I have this problem when I have updated the application 2 days ago ? Thank you in advance for your response Best regards Benjamin
Upon researching Southeast Europe Eurail, I found Eurail in Greece maybe starting from Skopje to Athens via Bitola and Florina. Digging deeper into Athens’ tourism found this article https://gowithguide.com/blog/athens-tourism-statistics-2023-5232 which I think is worth dropping by before going Italy. What do you think?
I will be traveling to Europe for three to four weeks beginning in Croatia. I want to see the most amount of countries during this time period. Any suggestions of travel routes/ duration of time spent in each city/country via the Eurail train are greatly appreciated, and happy traveling to those traveling! :) P.S: Two countries I would love to travel to in addition to Croatia are Switzerland and Austria. If you could squeeze that in, that would be amazing! :)
Hello, my family of 4 are looking to travel multiple countries, including going into Southern Italy. I havent bought the global passes yet as Im not sure if we’ll need the unlimited as Im still in planning stages. When I go into ‘find train times’ I cant find any trains connecting South of Rome. It just pops up with a little red x. We’re looking to go from Rome to Naples to Palermo. Any advice would be helpful!
Hello Interrail-Community,I am currently thinking to buy a Interrail-Ticket after my Erasmus-Semester. But I have problems finding a connection. For example when I want to get from Athens to Sofia at one day, the Trip-Planner for Internal doesn't work at all (also not on different dates or times). How can I find a good connection? And can I be sure that I don't pay extra when I want to do this? Thanks for you're Help!
My teenage daughter and I are going to travel for a couple of weeks in July. We are starting in Paris and then on to Berlin. We are keen to visit Budapest, visit Florence or Verona then finish in Naples where we are staying in Sorrento for a week. What route should we follow to Budapest from Germany and stay for a few nights. I would love to go to Bavaria or travel similarly scenic routes on the train. I have a teenager who needs to be interested though. Also not Prague as we have been there.
