Travelling by train

Are there restriction when travelling with a snowboard on the trains? We are taking trains through Central Europe and will be packing our snowboards along with us. Do we need to reserve additional space? Thank you!!Alexis and Hayden :)

Is anyone else going to be affected by next week's rails strikes in the UK?We're travelling home after our time away on Wednesday 4th January,  we booked Eurostar tickets etc in October when strikes were limited and the confirmed date was January 2 & 5th ..…We live in West Wales and the train strikes are now from January 2nd to the 7th ! I'm absolutely beside myself,  getting home is going to now cost us an absolute fortune,  by national express or taxi from london ! 

Important!We created and paid for an order for seats that was supposed to be sent to the hotel (Hotel Wivel Narvik - Norway), but the post office in Narvik told us that the shipment would not arrive until 29.12.2022. And our tickets are for 27.12.2022 and 28.12.2022. We absolutely need to know the reserved seats in the trains in order to continue our journey. The other trains are hopelessly sold out. We have hotels and other trains paid for.What should we do?

Hi we are travelling from Milan airport to Milan central. Moving on to Florence, then Rome, then ,Venice and back to Milan central to make our way to the airport again. Staying in each place for 2 nights. Total of 9 nights but 8 days travelling. Does the interail pass cover all of these destinations and would it be suitable. Don't want to get caught with extra charges etc.  Any information really appreciated. Ty

I have lost my blue Kathmandu backpack on the 12:10pm train from Geneva to Brig today on the 14th of December. It has my important belongings and I’d love to know where I may be able to find it.

Ora ho un nuovo telefono ma non riesco ad effettuare l'accesso a Google per poter scaricare l'app. L'unica cosa che ho è il codice con cui avevo attivato il pass. 

need some helpwe need to travel from Zermatt to Stuttgart and the fares are really expensive, like Euro 270 for 2 adults and 2 kids aged 12 and 6. is there a cheaper way? maybe by buying a swiss pass? or 1 day pass? and if i buy a 1 day pas, i will have to pay for reservation since i have large luggage? thks in advance

Hello! My husband I were booked on the night train from Stockholm to Narvik last night. Upon boarding we were told that due to some issue to the tracks we would have to get off in Lulea and board train 96 to Narvik. We are here in the station now, but don’t leave until 10:00. My question is this: how do we know which seats are ours on the new train? There was no information provided, and there is no one working here in the station. Any ideas or help? 

I am wanting to travel somewhere next year. I don’t mind where, I just want to catch a long distance train that is most suitable for my needs. I am hoping your can guide me on what is available and best suits my needs.  I live with multiple sclerosis and use a mobility device to get around. I am terrified that my mobility device will tip during the long trips and would like to know if there is anything available to secure my device during my trip. I am very comfortable in my mobility device and will stay in it for the duration of the trip.   I would also like to travel with my partner. And he can assist me with my needs.  What is the best train and service for my needs?

I have a train booking from Munich - Venice via OBB nightjet 1 December 11pm. We were only notified recently that Italy will be having strikes on 1 December 9pm - 2 December 9pm. Will this affect our train? Have called up OBB but they do not have any further details on this. Should we still go ahead with boarding the train? Can't imagine getting stuck on the train for 15 hours till the strike ends at 9pm... 

Hello!I am planning an interrail trip for next summer, but I am struggling to understand the inbound and outbound days. I am from Edinburgh, in Scotland, and in order to reach Amsterdam where I want to start the trip[ I need to reach London and get the Eurostar.  I want to get the Caledonian Sleeper train down from Edinburgh to London and get the Eurostar but will the pass cover both or just one of the journeys?

I have reserved several train seats as I know that that is the train I want to take however there are several days I want to travel to places and NOT reserve seats as some do not allow for seat reservations. I am not sure of the exact train I will be taking and have several times to choose from. When I load the trip into Eurail I have to put a date and time but do I have to be on that time train or can it be any time train that day?

Does anybody have a link to any sort of guide for IR/Eurail travellers on what to do if you miss the last train of the day because of a cancelled or delayed train? I know it is supposedly the responsibility of the operator of the delayed train, but if the train has many passengers in the same situation and only one member of staff on duty (or even zero staff) what do you do?What can you claim for and from who?Do you have to stay calm and wait for them to attend to you or can you go and get a taxi or book a hotel? What food will they cover? I know IR/Eurail do give some return for delayed and cancelled trains but, when they say no claims for payments of less than 4 euro will be paid, that clearly shows the payment will be a pittance.  It is simply a proportion of your pass cost, not reflecting the retail ticket price, and that they will forward any other costs to the carrier.

We travelled from UK to Croatia.  For the journey through France, Germany, Austria and Slovenia the interrail app allowed us to find trains for which we did not need to buy seat reservations.  However, all the Croatian trains said we needed reservations.  The information on the Interrail site leads you to believe that you can buy these through the OBB Austrian train reservation site.  This isn’t true. I wasted many hours trying to find some way of getting the reservations, sometime getting as far as the payment page, only to be thrown out with an “error” at the final point of booking.  At Salzburg and Ljubljana stations we asked if we could buy the seat reservations there and were told “only in Croatia”.  We were due to change trains in Zagreb with 4 hours between trains so decided to try there.  It was quite worrying as on the return journey we wanted a sleeper on the Zagreb to Munich overnight train, which would then connect to Frankfurt and the Eurostar.  So any problems would ha

hello everyone! I’m Matilde, I’d like to try for the first time the interrail experience during the Winter holidays (from 26th December to 10/12 of January). I’d travel alone to Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris and Lyon. The idea is to be in Berlin for new year eve. considering that I’m a 22 year old woman would you recommend it? I have some doubts due to the cold temperatures and the fact that maybe is not the most popular moment for interrail so i Won’t meet anyone? To be honest I don’t know what to expect!

Hey, My phone got stolen this thursday which had my TWO mobile pass activated on it. I’m set to travel but I’m unable to activate my TWO pass on a new device. I have used two methods of contact on the website but the bot doesn’t understand my questions !! . I’m worried that I won’t get a reply and sort out my pass before my travel start. Please can anyone provide any help or advice on how to get back my pass ?  For information, I got 2 pass for my friend and me on the same email address and there are paid with the samed credit card. ÖBB have today published their new Timetable from 11 December 2022 to 09 December 2023.For the moment I found this new things:Nightjet services Vienna/Munich to Milan will go till Genova. Nightjet Munich-Venice and Euronight Munich-Budapest will start in Stuttgart. Same for EN to Zagreb and Rijeka.Euronight Zürich-Prague one train like this year via Salzburg and Linz and the other new service via Leipzig and Dresden.Nightjet Zürich-Hamburg/Berlin run not more together, but at different times.  

Hi, I am planning a trip from Copenhagen to Abisko, sweden and then on to Oslo from 17 December 2022. But the timetable is only available up to 10 December. When will it be updated? Does the train schedule stays the same from week to week?

Hi! We’re a family of 4 South Africans planning to travel through Europe in December 2022. We have an itinerary planned, but have never been to these countries, or even used the trains. (We currently live in Brunei where we don’t even have trains). Our itinerary looks like this: Barcelona 5 Dec, Marseille 8 Dec, Milan 9 Dec, Rome 12 Dec, Venice 15 Dec, Munich 16 Dec, Prague 18 Dec, Berlin 21 Dec, Copenhagen 23 Dec.My son is in year 13 doing his IB, and will, of course be writing his mocks in the second week of January, which means it will not be all fun and games for him, he’ll have to use the train rides to study a bit as well. I want to buy the global passes  - my husband is 60, my daughter is 11 and my son is 17, and from what I have seen so far, the 10 day global pass will make it more affordable. My questions are:1. Should I go for first class or second class? 2. Am I correct to think that I buy the passes now, then book and pay for the train

I am planning to travel from germany to Barcelona, Spain with my dog. I have already checked, that dogs are allowed in the TGV trains. And you need a halfprice ticket for the dog.My question is: what kind of interrail ticket do I have to buy for the dog? a kids ticket?
