Train from Paris to Milan

We are planning to travel from Paris to Milan on June 3rd. We were originally going to travel from Paris directly to Rome, but with the landslide that is impacting train travel on this route, we decided to overnight in Milan, and then continue to Rome the next day. I’ve seen that by the time we travel, there will be a 'direct' route that includes a bus, but we'd prefer to travel by train the entire route.We’ve seen the recommendation on this site to travel from Paris to Zurich and then Zurich to Milan. We want the fastest route, and since it’s a special vacation, are happy to reserve and pay for business class.My question: when I try to book this route, it doesn't appear that all of the trains are available to book yet - is this correct?We are trying to balance booking early enough to get the seats and timing we’d like, but fear booking too early and missing more desirable trains that may not be scheduled yet.  We had heard that booking 4-6 months out would be ideal, is this correct?An

Train Availability

Hi,I’m from Autralia and looking at train travel in the July 2024 period in Switzerland, Italy and France. On some routes that I’ve searched in the timetable through Italy and France (Riviera to Paris), there’s no train routes coming up. For example, Geneva to Milan shows nothing at all, even the trains that don’t need a seat reservation. Are all the reserved seat trains sold out? Maybe because of the Olympics? Is it possible to have your Eurrail pass with you and get on a train that doesn’t need a reservation on the day of travel assuming they’re running? Thanks

Alicante to Yorkshire

My plan is to make this journey by yrain: Alicante, Barcelona, Paris, Eurostar, London, Leeds. Two questions:You can't use a Eurail pass in your country of residence, in my case Spain, but you are allowed one day " para la salida". Does this mean that as long as I get to France on the first day, I'll be Ok? Can I use the Eurail pass easily in the UK? And what about Eurostar?Anyone with answers will uave my deepest gratitude!Steve Green

sleeper train from barcelona to amsterdam

Hey guys, how are you’ll doing? Happy 2024!  Im a newbie here and very excited I found this!  My family and I are traveling to Europe in July for Paris Olympics. It will be Barcelona - Amsterdam - Paris. I am in dire need for guidance about trains (Night train Barcelona - Amsterdam & Amsterdam - Paris).  We’re a family of 6 and are looking for best / cheapest way to travel by train as we would really want to experience this. Thanks in advance!!! if i miss my train can i take the next same route

Hello,if I miss my train (takes too long at airport to make my train connection ).  Can I take the next train w same route without needing to cancel and rebook again.  On the tickets it says; valid for ~24hours. But also says cancellation free before 1st valid day.  Which this train would be my 1st train ride on the eurail.Seems like read where I  would need to cancel and rebookthank you

IMPOSSIBLE TO BOOK BEDS AND SEATS

We are seniors and will travel from Utrecht (Netherlands) to Rome and back.We have booked our tickets with the Global Pass.But it turns out impossible to book beds and seats.OBB sent us back to Interrail to book the beds we need.What to do???

Hey. Ich habe die Railplanner App und es sagt mir, dass die Strecke von Deutschland nach Barcelona nicht durch das Pass Netzwerk gedeckt wird. Wie kann das sein? auf deren website steht sogar, dass man dort hin fahren kann?

Would appreciate your advice about this tripFamily of 4 (2 adults, 17 yo, 13 yo) none of us have interrailed before. Current plan is3/8/24 Eurostar to Paris (know we need to reserve seats - is it ok to have bought just one pass beforehand and use just one pass number to reserve seats?)7/8/24 Paris - Barcelona12.-13/8/24 Barcelona to Florence - was thinking about an overnight stop at Nice? 18/8/24 overnight train Florence to Salzburg21/8/24 Salzburg to Cologne23/8/24 Cologne to Brussels25/8/25 Eurostar Brussels to LondonOur only fixed point at present is Paris as we have accommodation booked to see some of Olympics but I’m keen to book other accommodation as it’s the summer season  Any advice on the trip/ trains/booking much appreciated

Best rail pass for a week and 3 countries

Hello,we are a family of 4 traveling to Europe for the first time next week. 2 Adults and a 20 year old and a 11 year old. Our plans are this. 24-26 Frankfurt. 26-27 Munich 27-29 Salzburg 29-1 Bern. 1-2 Frankfurt for the flight home. We also Land at 6AM on the 24th. Trying to understand the rails. We will do some inner city site seeing most days but it looks cheap to pay as you go for those. But trying to figure out if I would need both a EU global pass and a Swiss train pass. While in switzerland we are thinking of the train ride goldenpass express I think its called. And hitting museums. Just not sure if the EU pass and pay for the other stuff in Swiss is better or how this works. Thank you

Seemingly strange route from Paris to Bern?

Hi there,  i am looking to get a global pass this summer to travel from France-Switzerland-Germany-Netherlands, but have not purchased the pass yet. while i am looking at train times between Paris and Bern it is seemingly taking a strange route that takes over 10 hours. this is confusing to me as on RailEurope, they show a train route that travels to Bern vis Basel sbb. wondering why this much shorter (4hour) route is not showing up on the train times page.  cheers

Dónde conseguir un mapa con todas las rutas ferroviarias de España? El mapa de eurail es muy genérico y no permite escoger una ruta, con click al icono de “cómo llegar”, lleva a Google Maps y, por ejemplo, en Google existen trenes de Sevilla a Málaga pero esa ruta no existe en el mapa de Eurail.Deseo iniciar un. viaje por España, desde Sevilla; levantarme y decidir adónde voy, ir a la estación comprar un pasaje y ya está; o un Global Pass continuo de dos meses. Muchas gracias.

is Liechtenstein close the weekend?

The 30/12 to 02/01 I'll be not far from Liechtenstein and I would love to discover 🇱🇮 But it seems quite difficult because I can't find any transportation the 30 and 31. 🤔 Do you know why ?  If your a traveller near (Bodensee) Lake Konstanz or Liechtenstein I would love to meet you ( discover some places, have a coffee, talk etc ) 💃🏻

Stuttgart nach Split Kroatien

Hallo an alle, ich bin völlig überfordert mit der Reiseplanung von Stuttgart nach Split (Kroatien). Ich verstehe nicht welchen Pass ich benötige. Wir wollen am 30.12.23 von Stuttgart aus los und am 06.01.24 von Split aus wieder zurück nach Stuttgart.Da ich noch NIE mit dem Zug eine Reise gemacht habe und mich da wirklich überhaupt nicht auskenne was ich da jetzt genau benötige, hoffe ich auf eure Hilfe. wir sind 2 Erwachsene, 1 Kind (12 Jahre9 und 1 Kind (10 Jahre).  Was muss ich buchen!! Deutschland-Ticket

Hi everyone!I am checking on the Deutschland-Ticket (49 Euro per month) for German local, public transports.I am little confused about the validity time and cancellation here.So if I would like to travel in Germany in December, I can buy the ticket now (13. Dec)? And it will work immediately this month? What if I don’t need it in January next year, so I can cancel it by the end of December? Or there are some time deadlines for the cancellation?Thanks very much!

Asking for recommendation

Hi everyone, I have recently purchased a 10-days Eurail pass but I haven't decided my travel plans. This is the first time i am planning to travel solo and I have very little experience of European trains. I will most probably visit germany for 3 days from Belgium (Cologne, Heidelberg, Frankfurt) but I am not sure where should i go next from Frankfurt. Can you recommend me any other destination from there or train which i can cover in 3 to 4 days? Thanks

Hi i’m Andy and taking my first euro rail trip to celebrate my 70th birthday. i’d like to take my electric  Brompton folding bike to explore the cities i will visit. Seat reservation from Paris to Strasbourg 20th of Dec 2023

Hello Everyone, Could you please confirm if this is the right train route going to the Strasbourg Christmas Market? This is our first time visiting a traditional Christmas market. Is the place near the main train station, as we want to spend until early evening and then go back to Paris? Thank you in advance.
