Travel within Northern Irland and Scotland

We, my husband and I plan to fly into Belfast, and see Northern Ireland, including Royal Port Rush, Giants Causeway, etc. then we want to take a ferry over to Cairnyan,Scotland to Glasgow, Edinburg, St Andrew’s, then on up through Inverness to Thurso. We then plan to ferry to storm nests for a day to so and then back to fly out of Edinburg, We plan to arrive in Belfast October 1,2023 and leave Edinburg October 13, 2023. We need advice about trains and Ubers or other ground transportation to the villages along the way.

Night reservations all sold out

Help!My plan for January involves several sleeper trains, until a few days ago these weren’t even on timetables. Now everything seems to have sold out almost instantly. Is there any way round this as it is deeply frustrating as it will mean altering all my plans. I am looking to do the following.9th January - either Brussels or Amsterdam to Munich15th January - Budapest to Brasov - this one doesn’t even seem to be possible without going overnight23rd January Bucharest to ViennaIs it now impossible to book sleeper or couchette places on these routes?If so, can anyone suggest alternative ways of getting between those places on at least roughly those dates?

How long before schedules are released for Belgium and France?

Hi there! I am trying to see if train schedules from London to Brugge and Paris are available for my trip on April 2023, but I get the following answer: “we can’t find any trains that match your search”. Is this because schedules haven’t been released yet? I appreciate your help!

Eastern Europe trip in January

Hi,I am planning a trip in January next year which will go roughly. Germany-Austria-Hungary-Romania and then ideally back to the UK by a more southerly route. I have a couple of questions.The train times search on interrail.eu seems to only show certain trains - for example Vienna to Budapest only shows a train departing at 19:42 each evening but the OBB and Deutsche Bahn websites show multiple trains through the day. Is the pass only valid on the 19:42 or is this a problem with the website?Second does anyone know of any onward options from Romania? Whatever timetables I look at seem to show that I can go as far as Sofia in Bulgaria and no further. Otherwise from either Bulgaria or Romania the only option appears to be to retrace my steps to Budapest. Do any trains run west to Serbia or North Macedonia?

St Malo to Mont Saint Michel Day trip... Help? :)

Hi friends!I decided to extend my trip in Saint Malo by two days instead of staying overnight in Mont St. Michel.I’m seeing a few Railplanner options from Gare Saint Malo to Mont Saint Michel but the way back looks pretty meager. Also can’t find the routes on SNCF or DB or Trainline app.I know the Railplanner is only updated once a month but wondering if i’m missing something or if I just need to call it quits. I’d like to go tomorrow 28/10 and I am heading to Lille on 29/10 and it’s surprisingly faster and more direct to go to Lille from St. Malo than Rouen (capital of Normandy and halfway to Lille!). So shocked.Can anyone please help me figure out if this plan is feasible? I’d really like to do a day trip to visit Normandy and be able to make it back to St Malo for my last night in Bretagne. Thanks in advance! Edited to add:the ones i saved in railplanner are:10:30 - 12:14  for under 2 hours.. then the returns are basically a 48 min ride at 13:41 (gives me no time to explore)or 18:47

st malo to lille earlier options via alternate routes? (and London Train strike question)

Hi! I’m traveling to Lille from St malo and booked the only seat reservation left from 15:39 29/10 Saturday It’s refundable so I can explore my options.I’m wondering if there are any other train stops that I can look into stopping through so that I can arrive earlier. I tried Versailles and booking individual from Rennes to Paris but no luck. Are there any other stations that I can intentionally stop through to arrive to my final destination earlier? I just don’t know that much about train stations and I’m having a hard time finding that information, but this community has been really helpful in the past with giving me other alternate routes to take. Thank you! PS. Train strikes When there are train strikes, does that mean we should completely take alternate transit like Uber? on the day I leave London Heathrow, there are train strikes and I believe the metro is also not working that day, 3/11 November 3. I’m staying over an hour away LHR by train and metro as is, so I want to be prepa

Holyhead to Dublin... Ferry Boat

I am getting a Eurail Global Pass and I am wanting to go from Holyhead Wales to Dublin Ireland. Of course it is a Ferry ride to get there. 1) Does the Eurail Global Pass cover this ferry boat ride?2) How do I enter a ferry in to the Trip Planner? When I enter the two cities and hit search it tells me "There is no train that matches my search"Thank you in advance

Question on Travel Days w/ 15 day- 2 month Global Pass

First off, I am purchasing a 15-day/2-month Global Pass2 questions…1) If I leave one city (Amsterdam) at 0800hr, arrive at another city (Cologne) at 1045hr. I then stay there to explore for a couple of hours. Then leave Cologne at 1248hr headed to my third city (Berlin) arriving at 1715hr. QUESTION... Because I am taking 2 separate trains on the same day (before midnight), will this be considered one trip (15-1=14) or two days (15-2=13)? 2) I am leaving at 2237 from one city (Berlin) arriving in another city (Lyon) at 0735. During this trip there are 3 changes of trains that AFTER midnight. QUESTION... Will each of the changes AFTER midnight plus the initial day count as all separate day (15-1-1-1-1=11) or Will it only be two separate days (15-1-1=12) or because it is one TRIP (Berlin to Lyon) it will only count as one day (15-1=13)?Thank you very in advance!!

How to travel in Greece

Hi, Me and my friend are currently traveling with a Interrail Global Pass. Right now we are in Italy, and would really like to go to Greece already in this week. We have tried to look up the train- and busstations in Greece, but it doesn’t seem like the easiest task, to figure out how to get from place to place in Greece. Has any of you tried to travel with Interrail in Greece, and know how to get around? We are really i some desperate need of help! Thanks

HELP! Trip planning help needed please :)

Hi there,  My name is Vik, originally from the UK but in Aus now. Suddenly this Christmas trip back home has crept up on us….Need to book everything up asap. Hotels in Europe all booked via booking.com.So now the travel - if you have any advice on what pass - Id appreciate it. Train from Roma Termini to Roma Trastevere

We are arriving into Roma Termini but need to get to Roma Trastevere.  It looks like an easy shot with one train but that does not pop up in the app.  Any one know if that train would be included on our Eurail pass or is that a city train that is not included?

The 1975 trip - a historic Interrail across Europe (1/2)

The 1975 Interrail trip I was brought up in Mastrick, an Aberdeen council housing estate, in the early 60s with my mum Elizabeth a nurse, my dad Angus a bricklayer and my older brother, Kenneth. In primary and secondary school, I always enjoyed geography: in primary it was the map of the world, flags and capital cities, and at secondary it was looking at cultures, rivers, mountains, deserts and natural disasters. Like many others at that time, my interest in countries, cultures and famous attractions were common, perhaps because they were not accessible, and it was another world away.One major influence came when I picked up the National Geographic when I was in the waiting room for an appointment. This publication opened the world to me. What I read was magical; the photography was literally out of this world. In the 1960s, all these well-known European countries and cities were a dream away, like so to many of my school friends and neighbours. There was not a lot of money around and

Hi,  Just a real quick y/n question, couldn’t find the exact answer anywhere: I am a German citizen, currently living in Ireland and I want to use the Interrail pass to travel FIRST FROM Ireland via UK to Germany and THEN again FROM Germany Switzerland. Do people solo-interrail in winter?

Hey there, I really want to go interrailing solo this winter, but I'm pretty worried that not many people will go interrailing during this time. My plan is to start from Helsinki the first of December and travel from there back to Germany. Does someone of you have experience of interrailing in winter in Scandinavia, are there people to met in hostels? I'm really looking forward for your answers :)

The north in the winter

Hello! Me and my boyfriend were thinking about interrailing into north of europe in the winter. I live in the north of France, so I was thinking about doing Lille-Hamburg; Hamburg-Copenhagen; Copenhagen-Oslo; Oslo- Stockholm; Stockholm- Kiruna. Kiruna-Rovaniemi ( I know I would have to take some buses but I’m not sure on which one). Rovaniemi- Helsinki; Helsinki-Tallin (with the ferry); Tallin- Riga (taking some buses); Riga- Vilnius (buses); Vilnius- Warsaw (I’m not sure how); Warsaw- Berlin and then going home. Is that okay to do in the winter? Like december-january. Is it a trip that we can do? Thank you.

Help with itinerary: Evian-les-bains to La Léchére les bains

Bonjour from Evian! Could I please get some help? I want to go to Hotel Radiana today in in La Léchère and having a hard time finding the proper itinerary. I know Eurail planner app isn’t ideal for planning but it has MUCH better itineraries (bringing me to petit. Coeur La Lechere L Bains… which might be a bus stop) than I’m finding on Google Maps, SNCF or Rome2rio directly. Unfortunately, Omio isn’t giving me any options either. I wanted to check in because this area is more rural and I’m afraid to get stranded so that’s why i’m here! I’m okay getting a mix of buses as well but still can’t find the proper bus site… I tried SNCF Bus but couldn’t find the itinerary for today. Please help! Thank you in advance! EDITED TO ADD:Oh! I should add that the Hotel recommended I get to these two stations But said I mauy hve to take a cab from Moutiers. moutiersnotre dame de BriancoenBut none of these are in ANY of the itineraries i’m pulling up so i’m not sure what route to go with. I am travelling summer 2023 with my husband and 2 children, for 2 weeks around europe. We arrive in Paris from London on the eurostar, plan to stay for 2 nights and then head to the Black Forest. Can anyone recommend a hotel that is fair budget (but nice) that is easy to get to from the eurostar gare nord. Thanks
