Good afternoon Eurrail hive mind. We have now booked our First Class Eurail passes (BEFORE the 15% sale, boo!) and we have the following itinerary in mind. The route doubles back a bit unfortunately but this is because my friend in Munich is only available on certain times. Our start and end point is Schiphol on 24 June and 16 July. I would appreciate answers to two questions:Which of these trips do I need to reserve? Where would be a good place to stop on the longer trips?Our itinerary is as follows:Thurs 25 June:  overnight sleeper AMS-ZUR (=4 x couchettes already reserved and paid for) Monday 29 June:  Zurich-Modena:  does this need a reservation? And which is the best route? Friday 03 July:  Modena-Munich:  does this need a reservation? Tuesday 07 July:  Munich-Nuremberg (I assume this is a direct train and no reservations are needed given the amount of trains available). Thursday 09 July:  we leave Nuremberg and head to Lugano. Okay so me and my friends want to interrail around Europe, we all live in the UK. We don't live in London so if we were to buy a Global interrail pass would that cover the travel from our city to London?? Or would we just need to find our way there?

Hello!  We (3 of us) are traveling from Amsterdam to London on April 24th and have passes bought.  This is our last leg across Europe, but are finding seats are Sold Out.  What are our options?  

I’m wondering if there is any way to select specific seats using a Eurail pass on Trenitalia.  From everything I read online here, it’s not possible on Trenitalia’s website, Trenitalia Kiosks, Eurail, or even OBB.   My travel companion for an upcoming trip has never been to Europe before and I was really hoping I could select seats, rather than have them preassigned.  I’m wondering if we go to a Trenitalia agent at a station if they have flexibility of accommodating requests.   I’d prefer the one seat arrangements facing each other, but as long as we’re sitting together, that would be fine.  What I’m really hoping to prevent is being assigned in different cars or even in the same car not together.  Is there a way to see the assigned seats before finalizing a booking?  I’m fine with us sitting side-by-side, across from each other, window or aisle, etc.  Just don’t want us separated.   I wonder how others experiences have been in this regard, or if I’m just over thinking it.  

Does anyone have any insight into what routes will be offered this summer, and when booking might open?I am trying to book for early July from Narvik (if it runs) or Boden to Stockholm. The website just shows track maintenance being planned, and no tickets yet. Although I note there are tickets for a few days later in the month. Is there any certainty there will be trains, even if a different route / schedule etc? 

Hello! Bought a paper pass for reduced price already in the winter, planned to travel in spring. Now plans changed, planning to travel in the autumn.But, the site says i have to BUY a new pass, wait for refundng of the original passa + pay 25 euros for the exchange.SO, if I do not get the new pass for the same reduced price, why would I exchange it and pay the extra 25 euros? And why do I have to buy the pass and get the refund later, can you not transfer the money/price of the original pass for the purchase of a new one? 

We are a couple planning Interrail travel to France, Italy and Switzerland next month, and need to put our passes on our phone(s). Wondering about the advantages/disadvantages of putting both passes on one phone or on two separate phones. We will always travel together. With both on one phone we can duplicate our trip details; if they are on separate phones can we duplicate or will we have to enter all the journeys separately for each pass? The snag I can see of both on one phone is using it at automatic platform gates, one of us will have to pass the phone back to the second person. what are people’s experiences and thoughts, please?

I want to buy the 4-day flexi pass, the trip from my city (madrid) to the first destination (paris), and the trip from the last destination (rome) to my city again counts in the 4 days of the pass? that means i can travel only two days between destinations?

Hi everyone!In a few days I would like to cross the border between Sweden and Finland through Haparanda-Tornio. I have read on the Interrail website that this cannot be done by train therefore there is a bus connection included in the pass. I don't know if this is due to covid but it seems there is no bus crossing the border for the moment.On Maps it seems like the distance between Haparanda and Tornio train stations is about 1 hour walking distance. I don't mind doing that but I would like to be sure it is possible and my only option to join Finland up north.Has anyone done that recently and could help? :)Thanks in advance!Laura

Hi,I bought erasmus pass for 4 travel days in the next 6 months.I already booked the trip for this Sunday, but would like to refund it now. When I refund it, do I get the travel day back, or I lose that travel day? 

I recently purchased a Eurail pass and was trying to get a train from London to Glasgow. It sent me to the ACP rail site to get a seat reservation. Is the ACP rail linked with Eurail or do I need a separate pass?

Over the weekend, I purchased two (5 day in 1 month) InterRrail passes for August and reserved seats on trains to and from Barcelona via Paris. In total, this has cost €900 and, alarmingly, AI has suggested that buying individual advance tickets (with mandatory seat reservations) might actually have been cheaper! What do you think; does this sound expensive to you? N.B. The InterRail passes were c. €600 and 8 seat reservations (in and out of Paris both ways) were c. €300.

Hi,I searched, but couldn’t find a suitable answer. Are there restrictions to times you can travel with an Interrail pass? I need to get from Cestas (near Bordeaux) to Mansfield in the UK for a short trip. Basically, a day’s travel, a day’s visit and a day’s travel back. I’ve done it for the last couple of years by booking two sets of tickets on the Trainline, but this would make it simpler (and cheaper). B

I have mostly avoided travelling through france and spain because of all the mandatory reservations, but at some point it makes sense to also visit spain and portugal atleast once despite the annoying reservations. (I am considering doing it this year if i dont find someone to travel another route together)Starting in Germany(direct ICE to Paris) or Switzerland i plan to travel via France and Spain to Portugal and then back to Paris (maybe travelling to the uk before returning, so i have atleast one country that has easy travel with an interrail pass).Whats the best way to get to portugal and back with some interesting stops in Spain, without spending so much on mandatory reservations. Especially the reservation for international trains seem quite expensive.(France to spain) And spanish trains seem hard to reserve (online) without paying booking fees on top of the reservation cost. I've made train reservations on the Rail Europe platform using my interrail pass number. I received the tickets as pdf's. Can I add them to the Interrail app? If not what to do when travelling ? Print the tickets and activate the travelling day as a 'use day' in the app ? Thanks for your support,  Rob

Dear all, We found a suggestion on the official Interrail website to travel to Istanbul. When planning in the trip planner, there is an error and a suggestion to split the journey (from Sofia or Bucharest) in two. Without further advice on how to do that. Could you please suggest how we could solve this.Is it possible to travel to Istanbul with Interrail?Best, Tiina and Hannu, travelling in June.

Hello !Our country is France.We’re trying to use our pass from France to Spain.Yet the only trains covered are the one within France. No internal passes within Spain.So the goal is to reach the border of Spain with our pass. And more precisely the railway station of Hendaye. Which is a border train station.Has someone already done it and is it ok with the pass knowing that the city we’re reaching and from we will get back is technically a French city ?Thank youEmmanuelle

Hi,quick question : How does the discount on StenaLine ferrys work? I want to take the Göteborg to Kiel ferry in mid-July, mid-Trip. The Interrail-website states “Save a travel day on your Pass when travelling with Stena Line. This benefit can be used with a valid Pass even if your travel days are over.”. Does that mean it can only be used when having an active pass day or if all days are used, but the pass is still valid? Cuz I wanna be using it mid-trip (Not all days are used up) without using a day of the pass! Thanks for the help! With the best regards!

My wife and I are inexperienced rail travelers and will be taking the train from Nice to Zurich on April 24.  Two portions of the trip (Nice Ville to Ventimiglia & Milano Centrale to Lugano) show Open Seating.  Do we just show up that day with our Global Pass to access these portions of the trip?  We have tickets for the other parts of the trip.  

Hi, we are trying to plan to travel to Paris from Scotland as it is a long way we would like to stop in Milton Keynes for a day to break up the journey.That would mess up our outbound journey, is there a way round it as travel by train is very expensive in the UK.

Good morning,I’m a little confused about my Eurostar booking. I had an email yesterday saying:“We’ve had to make some changes to the timings of your Eurostar journey 9148 on Friday 14 August to Lille Europe  due to engineering works.Your train will now be leaving later from London St Pancras Int'l at 18:34 and will arrive in Lille Europe at 21:06.” However, I can see that my original train is still running (the 17.04) and you can even still buy tickets for it. I’d much rather be on this train than the later one. Does anyone know what this is about? I’ve contacted them via their form but it looks like it can take a while for them to respond (up to 28 days). Thank you.
