paper pass : start date

Hello, I am interested in the “4-days travel within a month” pass. I know that for a paper pass you must mention the start date. But it is not clear to me if it is the start date of the mentionned month - and then I can chose which one are the four days within this month. Or if it is really the first day of the four days. Thank you for your answers !

So myself and a friend are heading interailling this summer. We’re hitting a LOT of countries and are very interested in outdoor pursuits such as hiking, sailing, swimming, surfing etc. Our question is two-fold; Firstly what sort of bag should we bring? Our flights come with a 20kg check-in bag, so we are torn between a suitcase and small day hiking rugsack or a backpacking rugsack or a backpacking rugsack and a day hiking rugsack. Which makes the most sense in terms of getting about from train station to hostel etc. We don’t want to be lugging a suitcase around the city for hours but on the other hand we’re not sure if giving up some of the extra storage space is worth it. It may be worth noting we will be visiting a range of climates from med to germany in early early summer. Secondly what should we pack? Is there many opportunities to wash clothes, are there any other essentials etc. Lastly how have people found sleeper trains? How much should they cost? We can get seats with our re

Switzerland travel

Hi Community! I am traveling to switzerland and booked hotel near Interlaken west. I am aware that most departures are from interlaken OST so I will be getting Interlaken guest to make my commute easier. I have a confusion and hope that you all will try to address it. I am not purchasing any kind of jungfraujoch pass since I am purchasing Eurail pass so will be buying individual tickets for top of the europe and Gridenlwald first at discounts available for pass holders. My Question is: Travel to Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe: I am seeing the tickets on the website are they are as follows: https://www.jungfrau.ch/en-gb/jungfraujoch-top-of-europe/buy-jungfraujoch-ticket/ I am not sure which location should I choose? Although price are same if I choose EURAIL pass i.e. 147.8 CHF. Should I need add journey in my Eurail pass as well for any of the location in the above route while traveling from Interlaken OST? Aachen to Bordeaux

Hi everyone, I booked a ticket for 1 April from Aachen to Bordeaux which would travel through Belgium, I received an email stating that this journey is cancelled due to strike action in Belgium, the only other option I can find is from Aachen to Frankfurt, and then from Frankfurt to Bordeaux, it does make the journey longer, but it is still manageable, not having travelled much by train in Europe before I would just like to find out any comments if this is a workable solution, departures further north of Frankfurt still use the route through Belgium, welcome any advice, thanks Andre - South Africa

Looking for a Travel Buddy May/ June 2025

Hi! I’m eighteen, from Berlin and looking for a travel buddy/ travel buddies for May/ June 2025. I would love to see Budapest, Dubrovnik and Athens and other destinations along the way/ around there. Short transfer from Switzerland to Italy

Hi, trying to do seat reservations for train from Switzerland to Florence, Italy in early July 2025. The transfer time in Switzerland is only 15 mins before train is then direct to Italy. Not sure how passport control/immigration works here given the short turn around between trains?

milan retourn

Because my wife can’t fly, we want to get the train from London to milan. Leave 31/8/25 and return 14/9/25. I’ve tried to look on the site but am struggling to find the options I want. I don’t know which type of pass I need for the trip. Needs to be a direct route as well, as we are going to tour Italy by car in between.

Raill replacement bus in the UK

On my next Scotland trip, I plan a stop in York on the way back before riding to Portsmouth to catch the ferry. Unluckily, it’s on a weekend (22-23 march) were all lines south of York are closed. There are rail replacement buses running to Doncaster, and also to Selby and Leeds, all three in about an hour which then connect on trains to London, so in theory there’s no problem. However I’d like to be sure if I can consider this reliable, or if it can be like “there’s one bus every hour and 200 people waiting so you will wait for 3 hours”. LNER says the trains may be crowded and advises to book, but nothing special about the buses. Alternatively, there’s a regional train route that still works to Leeds via Harrogate, barely slower than the replacement bus, but the first train is quite late on the Sunday morning and I’d have to be sure it would run normally and not be overcrowded to decide to wait for it (otherwise I wake up early and take a bus asap). At least, the good things are I will

I’ve purchased Scandinavian Eurail passes . My latest problem is when trying to book seats from Andalsnes to Oslo in May, I keep finding that “ Pass holder reservations may be sold out for this connection “. Can anyone help, I wish I hadn’t purchased the passes.

France to Braga (Pt) via Vigo (Sp)

Hello, is it possible to get from Bayonne/Hendaye (Fr) to Vigo (Sp) in one day via Bilbao or other northern Spanish city to avoid Madrid? I’m looking to travel 1 July 2025 but searching for dates before then (eg in 2 days time) as I know many routes are still not live. However, even when I search for the next few days/weeks, no routes at all are showing. I’m trying to avoid Barcelona and Madrid as I travel from London to Braga in Portugal (hence wanting to get to Vigo and cross the Spain/Portugal border there). Thanks for any creative travel tips! Hello,I would like to purchase a pass to travel this summer with my partner and her two children.We are planning to travel from Paris to Oslo.However, I have a few questions about reserving seats between Paris and Cologne and couchettes between Hamburg and Alvesta for the night train.How do I reserve seats between Paris and Cologne? inbound journey mandatory

Hello! I will be traveling through Europe by train. I live in The Netherlands and will use my outbound journey to start my travels. i wanted to stay longer in my last destination and return with either bus or plane. Can I just use my inbound journey to visite another country or must I use it to return home? Thankyou so much!

Did I schedule things properly?

Hi, I write because I start to fill nervous about the way I subscribed our global passes and how I reserved all trains for a long trip that should take place from 12 up until the 24th April (13 days). I would therefore be really thankful if any of you could tell me whether I did things correctly, or not. In case it is important... all steps were carried out from a PC. My mobile phone is 15 years old, too slow and does not work correctly with some applications. The phone just served for validation of bank security codes, and things like that. Here below, how I proceeded: First, I did a simulation on the Interrail website, which suggested that the pass I needed was a 7 days one. I subscribed (paid) one for me and my daughter (17 years old). However, 2 days later my wife decided herself up. I therefore got a second “independent” pass (of same kind). I then proceeded with reservations. I had many problems because I had to login once and once again to be able to validate each reservation, w

Hi! Do you need a seat reservations in Estonia with 2nd class pass? My railway planner- app says that seat reservations are required. But interrail.eu website tells opposite. The website says that I cant book seat with 2nd class pass in Estonia. I am travelling from Tallin to Kaunas.

How often to check for seat reservations?

We are hoping to travel from Trieste to Venice on 26.6.2025 at 10.35 to find "seat reservations are not available". Is it that we are too early? If so, when is the advice to next check? Or might it be that no reservations are required? Thanks".

Question on booking ahead

My specific question is as follows: We want to reserve seats from our home town to Paris. We can reserve the seats on the Eurostar service but not yet (too early to book) for the home town to London part. Can we proceed with the Eurostar reservation then add the hometown journey when it is available to book or does this all need to be booked at the same time to count as the ‘outbound’ journey. Please help?

I have purchased a Eurail Italy pass and some of the journeys I have planned require a seat reservation. When I try to book a reservation in the Rail Planner app the site continues to buffer and will not load? Can anyone give me guidance on this issue?

different train numbers in SBB and Eurail App

I'm planning a trip in Eurail app from Visp to Andermatt, following the schedule shown in the first screenshot. The train number is RE522. However, when I checked the timetable in the SBB app, it showed the schedule in the second screenshot, with the train number R43. I'm wondering if these are the same train. Is it okay to board R43 while I add my trip in the Eurail app as RE522? Thank you very much for your assistance.
