My daughter 23F and I 61M are traveling to Munich/Salzburg/Vienna in late June/early July.  I am trying to determine what type of tickets I need for the rail from Munich to Salzburg and then Salzburg to Vienna.  Any thought or suggestions?

I'm going to itali this year first we drive from Austria to Neapel then slowly back again.really looking forward to it.

Hello,I’m currently planning my Interrail trip and I’m having some issues with the connection between Italy and Switzerland. I want to travel from Milan to Basel SBB on June 9th, originally with EC 150 around 11:10, but I can’t manage to book a seat reservation for this train. On ÖBB and Trenitalia it says either “no seats available” or “temporarily not available for purchase”. On the Rail Planner app, it also says that seats for Interrail Pass holders on EC 150 are likely already sold out.Basel is not my final destination, but I need to be there before 17:30 to continue my trip. I tried to find other options than EC 150, but all the ones I saw are kind of blocked.Does anyone know if there is still any way to get a reservation for the EC 150 train, or what alternative routes you would recommend if it’s not available? I’m also open to using regional trains or other options if needed.Thanks a lot for your help.

Hi all, I'm travelling from Interlaken to Rome via Milan on the 2nd of August. I'm taking the following route:Interlaken West - Spiez - Domodossola - Milano Centrale - Roma Termini.I'm still yet to get seat reservations for the Spiez - Milano Centrale stretch. On the ÖBB and RailEurope planners, I see that EC61 from Basel SBB to Milano Centrale shows as 2 separate trips, from Basel to Domodossola and from Domodossola to Milan. I wanted to get in at Spiez to go straight to Milan. However, on the Interrail planner, the trip from Basel to Domodossola is not listed at all. Could there be any reason for this? Hi.Today is my travel date. We are 5 friends. 3 of us were able to activate our passes. But 2 of us cannot and we need to catch a train in 1 hour. It says “Something went wrong”.PLEASE HELP.

Hi! My group and I just bought the Eurail Global pass and we just had some confusion regarding booking seat reservations on the trains. On some legs of our train travel, it says “No price results were found. Pass holder reservations may be sold out for this connection, but there are other ways to check for available seats—more info below our timetable.” Does this mean that we will not get a seat at all, or that we just have to show up and hope that we can find a seat for that train?  Are we able to book seat reservations through other websites such as Trainline using our Eurail pass, and if so, how does one go about that?  If a train booking says “open seating only” does that mean first come first serve?  If our train connection is less than 10 minutes, are we likely to actually make that train? If you can only answer one of the above questions that is still a major help! Hello, I have a very imortant question. Me and my friend want to take trains from madrit to poland thru france, italy and few more. On most of the trains it says to reserve seats. Do i really have to do that? Its not very expensive but can add up quickly. Please let me know.

My dream travel sround Europe consists in a slow train route trough the north of Italy, visiting the Alps and the wonderful Cities of Milan, Venice and Verona. The route would end in Slovenia. And this is my dream route aroujd Europe by train.

This mail came at the right timing! I was just trying to figure out how I want to go back to the place I fell in love with: Switserland. As I was doing my internship in Zürich february-july 2025, I figured out that after those 5 months I would not be done with the beauty of this country. I want to go back to the landscapes, visit the mountains that are still on my list and see the people I met during that time who have a special place in my heart. It is diffucult to write about the feeling of a place that feels like home, but not being in that place when you need it the most. So, I would love to start my trip from the Netherlands, going to Zurich, Davos, Ticino and Zermatt! Dreaming of it ever since!!

When I get to the part of paying for reserved seats from Basel to Lauterbrunnen or Bern to Geneva it says it can not.  It says “Sorry, something went wrongWe could not save your details. Please try again or contact Customer Service if this issue continues.”.  I do not know where to go for help.  Is there a person I can talk to?Thank you,Cari

I am struggling to find pass holder reservations for any EC train Italy-Switzerland via this site, or RailEurope, or OBB.  All will sell me a full fare, but no pass holder reservation.Specifically I am trying to book EC16 13:10 Milano Centrale - Zurich. on 20/07/26.  I have tried many other dates, even different months and all say (on interrail.eu) pass holder reservations may be sold out.  Is this likely, 3.5 months in advance?  (I have tried dates in May as a test, in case reservations have not opened yet, but get the same message).I know there is a local train option with a change in Lugano and may have to rely on that, but curious to know if others see the same, and insights on what is going on?Many thanks for your help

Hello everyone.  I’m a first time traveler to Europe and will be taking my family this summer.  We will be traveling by train between some of our destinations and I’m trying to figure out if getting an Eurail pass is 100% necessary.  I looked on the Eurail site and the 4-day travel pass ranges from $928 (2nd class) to $1178 (1st class) for a family of 4.   We will need to take a train between the following cities:Rome → Venice (round trip over 2 separate days)Zurich or Bern → Paris (1 day)Paris → London (1 day)My questions:Is it worth the amount of money for the pass for the month we will be in Europe? If I do not get the Eurail pass, will my overall spend be less?  What I mean by this is will the difference in purchasing the tickets without the Eurail pass be more cost effective? Are there any monetary advantages of buying a Eurail pass or is it more for convenience/flexibility?  

Hi all, while I’m a very loyal user of interrail passes, having used 10 or so in total in the past 10 years, I have trust issues when it comes to leaving my personal data with Eurail BV again, after it’s been put for sale on the dark web due to bad IT security at this company (especially since the data exposed in my case was linked to a pass I used back in 2023, while it clearly would have been good data protection practice to delete them after a year or so). So, I’m thinking about buying a paper pass for my next trip. Some railway companies such as DB still sell them over the counter, and personal data (name, passport number, date of birth) is printed on the pass. My question is whether this data is being printed on the pass only, or also sent electronically by DB to Eurail BV and stored on the same servers as the mobile pass data. Does anyone have any insights to this?

Hello, is there any lounges which is available with 1st class eurail grobal pass in Roma Termini and Venezia St.Lucia？

Is the interrail pass valid on the narrow rail track that runs from Bilbao to Ferrol via Santander and Oviedo?

To enter the lottery for the Interrailpass: My favorite route was from Vienna to Sicilly :). 

Starting from Amsterdam and passing through Heidelberg and Munich, visiting Salzburg was lovely. Watching the scenery from the train from Hallstatt to Vienna was wonderful. We opted for the overnight train from Vienna to Bucharest. Our trip was tiring but also very enjoyable. I especially hope my next destination will be Rome, as I'm very curious about its historical atmosphere.

My favorite train ride was not in Europe but in an ex-soviet style train through Uzbekistan from Taschkent to Samarkand. We sat 3 people on one bench no air conditioning, and no lights when the train stopped for half an hour so the bugs would fly on less often. 

Starting from Amsterdam, passing through Heidelberg and Munich, and staying overnight in Salzburg was lovely. Watching the nature from the train from Hallstatt to Vienna was wonderful. We opted for the overnight train from Vienna to Bucharest. Our trip was tiring but also very enjoyable.
