So, I believe I have all my seat reservations, especially the ones that get me to my next destination, but I did have some general questions.Are seat reservations required from Glasgow to London in the summer? Eurail says they are but I have seen others say they aren’t. I’m going to the F1 race in Austria, but staying in Vienna, should I make a seat reservation or will I be okay if I don’t? I’m planning on visiting a couple of other cities, while in Glasgow, London, and Italy, I know Italy requires reservations, but should I make them now or is the night before okay? Glasgow to Edinburgh and possibly Inverness London to Oxford, Dover, and Bakewell Rome to Venice, Pisa, or Florence

Hello, As suggested by experts, for Caledonian sleeper journey from Edinburgh to London Euston, we have to add the journey manually with time as 00.40 CET, But I don't see any option to add manually now.Also, I can see 2 trains journey by Rail planner starting at 23.40, which one to add and how to add? We’re a family of.5 travelling from Milan to Zermatt in August 2024. What’s the best train route we can take for this trip? When I search using Eurail app, the route that comes up is: Milan Centrale → Domodossola (By Bus???); Domodossola → Brig (By Train); Brig Bahnhof → Zermatt (By Train)Is this the best way to do this trip? And is Milan Centrale to Domodossola route can only be done by Bus? Can we use our Global Eurail Pass for the Bus? Appreciate your help and tips on what the best route we can take for this Milan to Zermatt trip. Thank you.

FSE seems to be owned by/just a regional division of Trenitalia and using trenit app or Trenitalia web site the (many) regional trains and stations in Puglia appear (as do a lot of busses!) but these stations and trains don't appear in railplanner app. Does this mean we have to buy tickets for these routes and can't use our eurail passes?

Hi! We’re traveling trough Spain and have to back at the 11th of may. Now we just heard that the train from Barcelona to Lyon isn’t going that weekend. Our Seats are already booked from Lyon to home (Utrecht) at the 11th and we can’t delay our trip to the 12th. Already had contact with Renfe, NS International and Interrail but so far no help yet…. Anyone any ideas? Thanks!

Hi, I’m looking for help. I’m hoping to reserve places on the sleeper train between Budapest and Bucharest. Specifically the 473 Istar that departs Budapest at 19:10. I’ve tried four different sites. None seem to allow me to reserve a sleeper bed or couchette with an Interrail pass. Can anyone advise how I can reserve couchette places on this train?  We are travelling as a family of four and really want to get this reserved in advance, I don’t want to  risk waiting to make the reservation when we arrive in Budapest. I’ve seen this question asked before but none of the solutions seem to work for me. When i try to book seats with interrail book reservation system, I have always this message : Désolé, une erreur est survenue. Veuillez réessayer ultérieurement ou trouver un autre trajet. Le trajet actuel sera supprimé de votre panier. I want to book train from Hamburg to Copenhaguen 31th july, 12h53 - 18h, but can not succeed.Can I book directly with DB website in Germany ? there is a button to book seat only but no mention of Interrail pass, so I don’t if I can do it like that

Top insights (details below):Spain is only partly bookable in advance with Interrail – a real headache if you want to plan your journeys, connections and accommodation in advance!! It works best if you are physically in Spain, travelling around Spain is a large country, so train journeys are long –  allowing time for a safe connection time means you may not arrive till 9-10pm   Turn up at least 20-30 minutes  beforehand for the intercity trains – luggage security scans, ticket checks and takes time to board, as trains are usually almost full Need to join Renfe for internet access – complex as wants your passport number, ticket info etc Coaches are the alternative if the train can’t get you there Have just done my first ever Interrail trip from London to Spain and Portugal.  I am an experienced train traveller and seat61 and Rail Europe are my faves.Planning via seat 61 is great, but actually putting it into practice for Spain was very stressful and frustrating. I am soooo confused! I have read a lot but still can’t work out how to book the reservation I need for the section of my trip from Barcelona to Paris. everything else is booked including accommodation in all destinations but I can’t book the reservation to Paris.we will only be arriving in Spain a couple of days before so can’t risk leaving it until then to book. I am currently traveling through Belgium and today, I had an issue with my first class mobile pass. When the conductor scanned my pass, it showed up on his device as second class. I showed him my mobile pass, which clearly says 1st class. He looked at it and he let me stay in first class, so today it was a non-issue. Has anyone had this happen before? Just trying to prepare in case it happens again. Thanks in advance for your input.

Hallo, ich bin gerade dabei die Sitzplatzreservierung für den TGV zu buchen. Das wären 22 Euro. Dann wenns darum geht  “Ich akzeptiere sämtliche Buchungsbedingungen” anzudrücken, springt der preis immer auf 40 Euro.Ist das normal?

We are travelling from Zermatt to Florence on 1 August and trying to make seat reservations. (Hopefully the screen shot of trip is visible below). We have 2 questions:The first segments: Zermatt to Brig and then Brig to Domodossola have a green “ready to board” message. Does this mean we don’t need to book a seat, but can just board with our eurail global pass? In Domodossola it looks like we need to catch a bus to Milan (due to rail works?), how do we do this please? From Milan to Florence I’ve booked and paid for seats, but I don’t know how to book the bus to enure we get to Milan on time to catch the train again to Florence. 

I am only missing our one last day of the interrail, as I am waiting for this route to be available. But even after once in a while always checking the rail app and raileurope website, this route that can take us from Florence (06.55 am) to Utrecht Centraal (9.29 pm) is only available so far until 15 July, whereas we are planning our trip on 31 July 2024. The problem is that the last train from Basel SBB - Utrecht Centraal that is available up to 15 July is not available on 16 July onwards yet. But all other preceeding trains up to Basel Sbb is already available with the exact same time. Is there a reason for that? Should i wait longer for this last train route and this route would hopefully appear? Hi im looking for tickets to Barcelona from San Sebastian - on Eurail site its says prices are unavailable so i went to Rail Europe which show routes but says I need to book at the station - does this mean it wont sell out and I can buy on the day.  Its for Saturday 6 July.

I’m not travelling yet and just getting the hang of how my pass works.  I’ve activated my pass and I put on  some of my tickets.  I saw a message come up which said something about not being able to use apple wallet whilst using interrail ticket.  Foolishly I did not write it down.The message has now gone and I deactivated and reactivated my ticket to try and see it again, but it has not re-appeared. Does this make sense to anyone?  Is there anything I need to be aware of regarding the use of my apple wallet and the interrail pass?Peter

Hi all,  I have a global pass to explore Europe this summer and I am struggling to nail down my route, hoping you can help! I am currently looking to travel from the UK into Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Portugal (through Pontevedra & Vigo) but I then want to get back to the South of France, onward to Italy. Currently this feels quite clunky as I’d be going ‘back on myself’ ie. from Portugal via train, I would need to back through Pontevedra & Vigo to get to Madrid, Barcelona and then to Marseille / Nice. If I can, I’d like to avoid flights due to needing to check luggage in which drives the price through the roof! Hoping someone with a bit more geography sense (or just...sense) can point me in the right direction ;) Thanks in advance!

Hi there,I am about to plan an Interrail-Trip with my family through the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Spain next summer. I have a couple of questions so I will open some topics here looking for help.We are four people, two adults, one teenager and one child. We do have online global passes. Unfortunately, you can only add each ticket to one device. Once activated we can’t change it, so we must think through it before continuing planning. So I am wondering if we should add all four passes to one device or split it up that each person (apart from your youngest) has his or her ticket on their own mobile phone.Are there other families who travelled by interrail? I thought that there were 2 international ferry crossings included in the 6 day pass. One in and one out and that they were free. But when I try to book there is no option to pick the 6 Day Greek Ferry pass just the Interrail global pass. Can anyone let me know whether that are free or just discounted and how to book if there is no option. Many thanks

Hi, I hope someone can help. I am buying an Interrail Greek Ferry Pass along with my Interrail Global Pass and in looking at how to book an international ferry to Greece I tried to book as a senior as I am 60 and that is the pass I have. On the island hopping it is fine as the checkbox is 11-99 but when I book the international leg of the journey it will not let me use my pass unless I check the 26-59 age group. I think you get a reduction as a senior over 60 anyway so this might be the reason. But I want to know if it is OK to check the 26-59 years box so I can use my pass even though I am 60. I don’t want to buy it and then find out I cannot use it on the international leg. Hope this makes sense and Thanks.

Hi everyone! I have tickets on the NJ469 next week (16/05) from Paris Est to Salzburg. Short version: one customer representative told me the train is not leaving from Paris, but Strasbourg because of construction work; another told me that the train was not modified and would still be leaving from Paris. Does anyone have more information about this train? This is the long version:Initially, the train was supposed to leave at 19:12 from Paris Est. However, on 25/04 we received a (somewhat cryptic) email from ÖBB (“Information zu Ihrer Verbindung”) telling us that “Der Fahrplan Ihrer Verbindung von Paris Est (16.05.2024 19:12) nach Salzburg Hbf hat sich geändert” (i.e. there have been modifications to our train).Looking at the online timetables, it appears that NJ469 is no longer leaving from Paris, but from Strasbourg because of construction work. I have the discoverEU app and the Rail Planner app. Now I want to make a seat reservation for the trip on the Rail Planner app, but only the trip from the DiscoverEU app is displayed. If I click on "Is a trip not displayed? Create trip", a new trip is created on the DiscoverEU app.But I need a seat reservation for my trip on the Rail Planner app.
