Luxembourg Direct Lines - Is it possible to commute

I am an American student studying in Luxembourg for about 5 months in the Spring of 2024. I hope to be able to live in a city other than Luxembourg as I only need to be there 2 days out of the week for class. Paris would be amazing as it allows me to be so close to a major terminal. I know nothing about the train system and how it works in Europe. If I live in a city, for this example let’s say Paris, would it be possible to commute there two days of the week with a Eurail unlimited pass? Do they run often enough for me to catch one twice a day for these two days? Am I going to drown myself in reservation fees or is it similar to NYC subway’s “swipe your card, hop on, and then hop off” system? I also will be extensively travelling with the pass on days I do not have class, using it atleast twice per day, possibly more depending on where I end up. How easy is it to hop on a train and end up in a different country / how much in advance do I have to reserve them (show up to the station or

Requesting information on Paris - Interlaken - Rome Train travel

Hello Friends, I’m travelling solo this November and Paris will be my base. I’ll visit Paris for a few days and then return to the same city at the end to catch my flight back home. Now, I’m planning to travel to Interlaken to visit Jungfraujoch and the nearby villages and then proceed to Rome for another few days. I have a total of 3 weeks and I believe visiting the aforementioned three places would be easy [earlier I thought I could go to some other city too, like Munich/Barcelona for example].  I understand the below is possible but does this plan sound good, or could you please suggest a better idea as this is my first time visiting Europe?Take train from Paris to Basel [using 4 days global flxe Eurail pass] and then take local train to Interlaken. Purchase single day pass to Jungfraujoch [expensive but I’m not buying Swisspass as I’m just spending 4 days in the country with not many visits to mountain tops or intercity travel]. Recommedations for when to generate QR code (daily ticket) for a travel day

Hello. We will commence our journey in a few days and are trying to print out our necessary documents, including seat reservations.  This is the first time I’ve used the Eurail FlexiPass, so please bear with me if I ask some rather obvious questions. After several rounds of email, I was able to determine that in order to board a train on a travel day, we need to generate a QR code for that day, and to present our seat reservations (if seat reservations are required).  What customer support did not answer was how early we should generate the QR code?  We want to do a bit of a dry run before commencing our journey.  We already have an active travel day, when we are travelling on the Eurostar.  We already have both e-tickets and seat reservations for this leg of the trip, but we do not have e-tickets for the leg after the Eurostar.  If the Eurostar travel day is over a week away, is it too early to try a dry run fo generate the QR code for the leg without an e-ticket?  How do other travel

Hello. I live in Germany and would like to take the Nightjet from Innsbruck to Amsterdam. He obviously crosses Germany. But I only drive through and don't get out while I'm there. Is the pass still valid there?Greetings, Pascal.

Hello , I’m non European citizen so I m getting eurail Global pass to have trips Zurich to Zermatt and back to Zurich . Then Zurich to Vienna. That will be night  SBB train leaving at 21:40 . Do I need to book couchette or not ? If yes then how ? thank you Natalie

Christmas break euro trip

So I'm planning to travel to Luxembourg on the 21st of December for a couple of weeks. During these days I would like to go to Amsterdam, Brussels, and Paris, I cannot find any trains during December, where can I find the schedule for the trains, any tips? We're a family of 4, you think it would be cheaper to rent a car?

Hello,I purchased a Eurail pass for travel the end of September.  We are flying into London Heathrow arriving on September 29 around 12:30pm.  We want to travel from London to Paris the same day.  I noticed that checking the train schedule it says seat reservation required.  What train do we take from Heathrow to Paris city center and how do we reserve seats?

Prague night train “operational restriction”

I will be travelling from Krakow to Prague on 30 Aug by IC407 overnight. I’ve bought my ticket and reservation already.. but the disembarking station is “closed”.. so does that mean I can’t get off at that station? The train company did not provide other alternative transportation… what should I do?  The same is happening for my night train from Prague to Budapest, where the 2nd and 3rd station is “closed” but the train company did not provide other alternative transportation… what should I do?

Changes of trains

Hello, I have several changes of train when traveling from Luxemburgo to Lausanne. The first one is at 00:49 and two other changes. My question is if that’s only one travel in my Eurail pass or 3 travels. Please help!! Thanks a lot.

interrail pass or not

 Travelling from Stroud UK to La Ciotat France in the last week of May 2024. Day 1 Fri 24th or Sat 25th MayStroud to LondonLondon to ParisParis to Marseille Marseille to La Ciotat Same return journey. As we’re not stopping at multiple locations other than to get connecting trains, do you think it would be cheaper to buy regular train tickets rather than an interrail pass (plus supplements for Eurostar and Paris to Marseille)?  From my initial browse it looks equally costed as the Eurostar without interrail is expensive as is the Paris to Marseille leg. I’m drawn to the interrail pass as we used it for a longer trip this year and found it really easy to use. We’ll only be away for between 7-9 days. Our intention is to not fly. Any advice recommended.

Colmar to Venice in december

Hello!My mum and I are travelling through Europe this winter, starting in London and ending in Venice. We are spending christmas in Colmar, France and want to do some scenic railways for two/three days through Switzerland and then end in Venice. Are most of the scenic railways not covered by the Eurorail pass? Is it then worth getting the SwissTravel Pass? Does anyone have some recommendations on routes… All and any advice is appreciate

On the train time table it says you have to pay for 2 sleeping carriage one on the start and one in the second at 0.55hr if you paid for a sleeping carriage shouldn't you stay on it asleep and not have to get off one and go sleep on another one

Do through night trains exist?

Hello,I am having difficulty finding a night train from Milan to Geneva, or Milan to Lyon, that does not involve long waits at a station in the middle of the night or the early hours. For me, this defeats the object of a night train: board it in the evening and wake up at the destination!Thank you for any help or clarification you can bring, Brian.

First Timers

We are a group of 8 all first timers using the inter rail pass.We have our itinerary sorted, we have purchased our Eurostar seat reservations outward and return.The first day we are travelling from the midlands to Berlin, question is what do we do regarding activating passes /recording journeys taken?Also when required to show proof of validity to travel what are you required to show? CheersAndy

OBB reservation mistake. Purchased 1st class but I have 2nd class Pass

Any suggestions

Is there any trains from Zadar ? We are planning to take a trip from Zadar to Zagreb? Or how to reach it?  Our trips plan is Zadar (1day) - Ljubljana (few hours) - Salzburg (sleep over) - Prague (few hours) - Berlin (sleep over) - Hamburg (few hours) - Amsterdam.  Any corrections ?   Also it's our first time. Are we suppose to show QR code of ticket to the person who are checking tickets? Or how it's happening?
