Interrail during outbound and in
Hi interailI am going to get some vaccinations done a couple days before my trip. I was worried if I get sick due to this what would happen if I can’t take the train out of the uk during my reserved train journey, can I take a train another day even if a reservation has been made but the journey was not completed? As I have heard you are only allowed 2 travel days in your own country. Thanks for any help,Angel
Best Pass to Buy for Paris/Switzerland/Rome
Good day! I am torn between purchasing between the Eurail and Swiss Pass. Our itinerary is as follows for end of May 2023: Day 1-2 - ParisDay 3 - Train from Paris to InterlakenDay 4 - Interlaken (possibly do a boat tour in Lake Brienz)Day 5 - Train from Interlaken/Lauterbrunnen to Lucerne (We have plans to go paragliding this specific morning, so have to go to Stechelberg station for this from Interlaken and then go to Lucerne after. I know there is a cable car ride involved from Stechelberg to Murren which is the take off site.)Day 6 - Lucerne (We were looking into doing a Mt Pilatus trip)Day 7 - Train from Lucerne to Geneva (Possibly looking at doing a stop in Gruyeres)Day 8 - Train from Geneva to RomeDay 9-11 - Rome I was hoping I could do a combo of Eurail and Swiss Pass (3 days each), but the smallest Eurail package seems to be for 4 days. Thank you in advance, Regards,Pat
Does Eurail Global Pass include the train from Zurich to Venice?
Hello, I am traveling to Switzerland and Italy this upcoming summer. I am a Canadian citizen. I plan on taking the EC311 Venezia S.Lucia ItaliaRail train from Zurich HB to Venice (Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia). Does the Eurail Global Pass include this train ride? Thank you very much.
Strikes in France - compensation from SNCF for flight?
I have seat reservations a train from London to Paris and Paris to Barcelona tomorrow. Due to strike action in France the train from Paris to Barcelona has been cancelled. As this is the start of my trip, I am going to have to fly from London to Barcelona and then continue my Interrail journey from there.I have filled in the Interail delay compensation request form online in the hope that they will refund me for the seat reservations and the lost travel day.Would it be possible to get a refund from SNCF for the last minute flight from London to Barcelona? If so, how would I contact them? Not a good start to my trip (especially as I wanted to avoid flying!)Thanks in advance for your help.
Must email reservations be printed?
The information on the Eurail website says that you need to print emailed reservations. I won’t have a printer with me while traveling. Will I be able just to show the email instead of printing it?I’m new to the forum, so have been trying to catch up on the topics concerning other travelers. I was disappointed to see that experienced travelers recommend using other sites to make reservations. I was hoping that Eurail would be my “one stop shop”.
Inbound/outbound to port without train station
As I understand from numerous community posts, the inbound/outbound journeys can basically be any train journey in your home country while the pass is valid (only one inbound and one outbound though). Is that true or does the journey have to begin or end at the border or an airport/port?The reason I’m asking is because the Conditions of Use for Eurail and Interrail Passes states that the journey “can be used” to/from the border or an airport or port. That could be understood either as that is one way to use them or as they “must” be used that way.If I travel from abroad to and airport or port without train station, would it be OK to travel by train from the same city (travelling from the airport/port to the train station in some other way)?
Another Reservation Query - Zurich to Paris TGV in the Summertime
Hi2nd year of rail pass travel with my son so we’re much more organised this year, however the delay in being able to book the last seat reservations for a key step in our journey back home is causing me some worry.we need to book on the 13:34 TGV Zurich to Paris on 10th August but bookings are still only open till around mid June, 3 months till pass reservations open I believe. However the price of the reservations with the pass is around 74 euros, no choice of seat location and risk I don’t get in quick enough due to limited pass seats.Whereas I can book that train now, via a few places but say the rail europe site for 77 euros (plus booking fee) and be able to chose an upstairs seat (obviously!) and rest easy. The few euros difference for peace of mind and an upstairs seat seems worthwhile or am I missing a trick. What would you do?Thanks
Seats from Venice to Bari
Hi there,When I search ÖBB for seats from Venice S. L. to Bari 17.7. I can see the different options (I couldn't a few days ago), but when I choose ticket and day ticket I just get a no journey found message. Why is that? Still to early or they can't be booked at ÖBB /Karina
Turning 28 midway through trip
Hi there, hoping someone can help me! I’m going to be 27 for majority of my trip, 2 weeks around (Rome - Milan - Venice - Budapest - Prague) but then turning 28 for the last part of my trip (Paris - Amsterdam - London). I have bought a youth ticket, will I be able to use this for the last part of my trip?
Consuming 2 travel days for IC407 Krakow to Prague
Hey Everyone,I am trying to book the night train from Krakow to Prague and it leaves at 22:42 and arrives at 7:31 the next day. After checking on polrail, it seems that the train does not actually switch, and that you end up staying in the same car, but it changes operators and switches tracks in Bohumin. The app views this as a switching connection, and as such, it’s requiring me to spend 2 travel days despite it not actually switching. I would think since it’s technically a single train, it shouldn’t count as multiple days.Do I actually need to activate the second half of the trip as long as I get the reservation via polrail and flip the initial switch in the app for Krakow - Bohumin? Is there a way to do this without the app using 2 travel days?
I changed country of residence, can I change it?
I have a problem. I bought the 2-Months unlimited Pass on last year's promotion. hen buying the ticket on May 2022), I selected Germany as my country of residence as I was currently living in Munich for my university studies. However, by the time I start my journey (April 2023), I had already moved back to Turkey. I bought the ticket with a friend; he and I are both Turkish citizens and have Turkish passports. I will start the journey from Turkey and also end it there. So I am hoping I do not get locked out of the German railways because of the "country of residence" issue. I have contacted Interrail support and they informed me that "country of residence" cannot be changed after the purchase date. I would really like to be able to use the German railways for free as they are not cheap and are hard to avoid. They are geographically central in Europe, so I will have to use them. It will be really difficult for me, financially, to complete my journey if I buy a ticket for every train ride
Activate or Reservations
I am buying my Eurail Pass and before I do, I would like to ask a question. I want to set a couple of Reservations up now but I am not traveling until the 1st of June. I am getting a Mobile not Paper.Question.... in order to make the reservation do I have to activate my pass... I am not talking about linking (unless "linking" is the same as "reserving")?Any tips or "things to watch out for" when making reservations would also be appreciated!Thank you
Entering Passport Number after purchase
I want to buy my Global Eurail Pass during this 10% sale but my passport has not arrived yet. Question... can I buy the Eurail Pass now and enter my Passport Information later or is it you got to enter the information when you buy the Pass?Thank you very much in advance!
Why can't I find trains between Porto, Portugal and Santiago de Compostela?
We are planning our train schedules for Spain and Portugal this summer. We find trains for all of our travels except for Porto to Saniago de Compostela to Segovia in July. No trains come up for this route. Up to Porto and Segovia into France show trains in July so I would not think that it is schedules aren’t available. Any thoughts?
Check-in closing time for boarding the last Eurostar for the day.
Hello everybody!Newbie question regarding Eurostar from Paris to London…Planning on taking the last train from Paris Nord to London St Pancras (ES9063) departing at 21:13 hrs. My flight into Paris arrives approximately 18:00 hrs whch gives me only about 3 hours including customs, baggage collection & transport from CDG to Paris Nord. Can someone tell if that will be cutting it too close to catch the last train (ES9063)?Also, what is the check-in closing time for Eurostar? If it makes any difference, I am in France on an Indian passport; travelling on UK Tourist/Schengen Visa and a Global Eurail Pass. Thanks in advance for your time…
Intercity falls out, next train has no first class…..
IC 312 Budapest-Graz was broken up in Szentgotthárd. Everyone who wanted to travel into Austria had not only to change, but also to wait for more than a hour, (instead ÖBB could have set-in a remplacement-train, but deceided it due to costs-reduction). But that’s not all, the regio-train stops much more often was ab Feldbach fully crouwded. So I’ve paid for the day without getting what I’ve paid. And Interrail refuses to give any compensation for, this is horrible. EURail Group shouldn’t handle with people who have paid more for extra comfort, should they? The next train should have been published in the teain-planner: RE 4721 Szentgotthárd-Graz Hbf (dep 13:04, Arrival at Graz: 14:53 has been published without time from Szentgohhárd (that name is weitten with Accent-aigu!). If someone looks at the EUrail-App, he/she thinks to wait untol 15:09 for the next train. Please add the times of the missing-trains of the line Graz-Fehring-Szentgotthárd, thank you.
