Get ready to travel

So, I believe I have all my seat reservations, especially the ones that get me to my next destination, but I did have some general questions.Are seat reservations required from Glasgow to London in the summer? Eurail says they are but I have seen others say they aren’t. I’m going to the F1 race in Austria, but staying in Vienna, should I make a seat reservation or will I be okay if I don’t? I’m planning on visiting a couple of other cities, while in Glasgow, London, and Italy, I know Italy requires reservations, but should I make them now or is the night before okay? Glasgow to Edinburgh and possibly Inverness London to Oxford, Dover, and Bakewell Rome to Venice, Pisa, or Florence

Like the title says. My partner and I purchased two two-month passes a couple weeks ago in anticipation for our upcoming trip of Western Europe and I can say, without a doubt, that the user experience of this website/service has been incredibly poor, confusing, unhelpful, and unnecessarily stressful. There are a multitude of reasons why so I’m going to list them out numerically.Consistent missing data - Whenever we first wanted to make reservations/plan out our trip, the entire country of Ireland and the majority of the UK stations were missing from the search bar. They simply would not appear. We kept scrambling around to figure out what to do and if we misread the locations served. We eventually went on the Irishrail website and placed a reservation just in case. A couple of days later both Ireland and a handful of different UK stations were functioning again on the app/website. Hi! We’re traveling trough Spain and have to back at the 11th of may. Now we just heard that the train from Barcelona to Lyon isn’t going that weekend. Our Seats are already booked from Lyon to home (Utrecht) at the 11th and we can’t delay our trip to the 12th. Already had contact with Renfe, NS International and Interrail but so far no help yet…. Anyone any ideas? Thanks!

Hi, I’m looking for help. I’m hoping to reserve places on the sleeper train between Budapest and Bucharest. Specifically the 473 Istar that departs Budapest at 19:10. I’ve tried four different sites. None seem to allow me to reserve a sleeper bed or couchette with an Interrail pass. Can anyone advise how I can reserve couchette places on this train?  We are travelling as a family of four and really want to get this reserved in advance, I don’t want to  risk waiting to make the reservation when we arrive in Budapest. I’ve seen this question asked before but none of the solutions seem to work for me. When i try to book seats with interrail book reservation system, I have always this message : Désolé, une erreur est survenue. Veuillez réessayer ultérieurement ou trouver un autre trajet. Le trajet actuel sera supprimé de votre panier. I want to book train from Hamburg to Copenhaguen 31th july, 12h53 - 18h, but can not succeed.Can I book directly with DB website in Germany ? there is a button to book seat only but no mention of Interrail pass, so I don’t if I can do it like that

Top insights (details below):Spain is only partly bookable in advance with Interrail – a real headache if you want to plan your journeys, connections and accommodation in advance!! It works best if you are physically in Spain, travelling around Spain is a large country, so train journeys are long –  allowing time for a safe connection time means you may not arrive till 9-10pm   Turn up at least 20-30 minutes  beforehand for the intercity trains – luggage security scans, ticket checks and takes time to board, as trains are usually almost full Need to join Renfe for internet access – complex as wants your passport number, ticket info etc Coaches are the alternative if the train can’t get you there Have just done my first ever Interrail trip from London to Spain and Portugal.  I am an experienced train traveller and seat61 and Rail Europe are my faves.Planning via seat 61 is great, but

My daughter is currently traveling with an itinerary of London-Italy-Croatia-Austria-Brussels-London.  Her group tried to get a train today from Trieste, Italy into Croatia, but they were not allowed on without a reservation, even though the app said no reservations were required and the train wasn't full.They booked a bus journey instead but she is now worried that she will hit the same problem with later trips.  Her itinerary includes high speed trains between Villach-Salzburg on Wednesday and Salzburg-Frankfurt and Frankfurt-Brussels next Sunday (she has a reservation for Brussels-London).Again, the app says no reservations are required but might could this be changed leaving them stranded the last minute again?

I am soooo confused! I have read a lot but still can’t work out how to book the reservation I need for the section of my trip from Barcelona to Paris. everything else is booked including accommodation in all destinations but I can’t book the reservation to Paris.we will only be arriving in Spain a couple of days before so can’t risk leaving it until then to book. Please help!

I am currently traveling through Belgium and today, I had an issue with my first class mobile pass. When the conductor scanned my pass, it showed up on his device as second class. I showed him my mobile pass, which clearly says 1st class. He looked at it and he let me stay in first class, so today it was a non-issue. Has anyone had this happen before? Just trying to prepare in case it happens again. Thanks in advance for your input.

Hallo, ich bin gerade dabei die Sitzplatzreservierung für den TGV zu buchen. Das wären 22 Euro. Dann wenns darum geht  “Ich akzeptiere sämtliche Buchungsbedingungen” anzudrücken, springt der preis immer auf 40 Euro.Ist das normal?

We are travelling from Zermatt to Florence on 1 August and trying to make seat reservations. (Hopefully the screen shot of trip is visible below). We have 2 questions:The first segments: Zermatt to Brig and then Brig to Domodossola have a green “ready to board” message. Does this mean we don’t need to book a seat, but can just board with our eurail global pass? In Domodossola it looks like we need to catch a bus to Milan (due to rail works?), how do we do this please? From Milan to Florence I’ve booked and paid for seats, but I don’t know how to book the bus to enure we get to Milan on time to catch the train again to Florence. 

I am only missing our one last day of the interrail, as I am waiting for this route to be available. But even after once in a while always checking the rail app and raileurope website, this route that can take us from Florence (06.55 am) to Utrecht Centraal (9.29 pm) is only available so far until 15 July, whereas we are planning our trip on 31 July 2024. The problem is that the last train from Basel SBB - Utrecht Centraal that is available up to 15 July is not available on 16 July onwards yet. But all other preceeding trains up to Basel Sbb is already available with the exact same time. Is there a reason for that? Should i wait longer for this last train route and this route would hopefully appear? Any help would be appreciated! The trip that we want to take:

Hi im looking for tickets to Barcelona from San Sebastian - on Eurail site its says prices are unavailable so i went to Rail Europe which show routes but says I need to book at the station - does this mean it wont sell out and I can buy on the day.  Its for Saturday 6 July.

I’m not travelling yet and just getting the hang of how my pass works.  I’ve activated my pass and I put on  some of my tickets.  I saw a message come up which said something about not being able to use apple wallet whilst using interrail ticket.  Foolishly I did not write it down.The message has now gone and I deactivated and reactivated my ticket to try and see it again, but it has not re-appeared. Does this make sense to anyone?  Is there anything I need to be aware of regarding the use of my apple wallet and the interrail pass?Peter

Hi there,I am about to plan an Interrail-Trip with my family through the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Spain next summer. I have a couple of questions so I will open some topics here looking for help.We are four people, two adults, one teenager and one child. We do have online global passes. Unfortunately, you can only add each ticket to one device. Once activated we can’t change it, so we must think through it before continuing planning. So I am wondering if we should add all four passes to one device or split it up that each person (apart from your youngest) has his or her ticket on their own mobile phone.Are there other families who travelled by interrail? Just a quick heads up that DB (Deutsche Bahn – German Railways) is raising the price of reservations (as stated in the new version of their general transport conditions). From July 9th onwards:2nd class: 5,20 € per journey (former price: 4,90 €) 1st class: 6,50 € per journey (former price: 5,90 €) DB's 1st class flex price still has the reservation included. 2nd class family reservation: 10,40 € per journey (former price: 9,80 €) 1st class family reservation: 13,00 € per journey (former price: 11,80 €) Keep in mind that reservations from ÖBB or ČD still cost 3 € or 76 CZK respectively. But they're only convenient if you just reserve seats on one train since they charge you per train rather than per journeys (like DB does). So if you'd like to reserve seats on a journey which at least includes one change, DB is still cheaper. Eurail/Interrail still char

Hello,I am new to Eurail, first time travelling to Europe with my family. We got a pass and we have obtained seat reservations for all the trains that require them on our upcoming trips. However, there is one trip for which we are looking into getting the optional seat reservations: the Centovalli train between Locarno and Domodossola. We are planning on taking a Vigezzo Vision train on that route, which we understand has a surchage that can be paid on board. This train also does not allow you to travel unless you find a seat, which means it may be useful to get a reservation on busy seasons. Since we will be travelling on July 12, we were trying to get a reservation online, which I understand would also allow us to pay the surchage online as well. But when going to the Centovalli website to get the seat reservations, and choosing the option that indicates we already have a ticket and just need reservations, a new form is presented that asks what type of ticket you have ( (

I need to return my paper pass as soon as possible.The return label that came with the paper pass has the address:Eurail. B.V., Int. Business Return Service, I.B.R.S./C.C.R.I. No.7, 3500 ZA Utrecht (NL).Can I know if this is the correct address to send the paper pass to?Also, I would like to know if the return label guarantees delivery, as I am sending the pass from the United States. Hello,I would like to book a train in Germany (DB ICE) through the DB website and not through the Interrail website. If I understand correctly, I just need to check "Book seat only," search for the desired route, and reserve my seat. Then, in case of inspection, I show my Interrail pass and my seat reservation. So I’m planning a 3 day trip, 3 persons, in July through Inverness, Aberdeen, Edimburgh, Fort William and Glasgow.The Interrail app says the reservation is optional, and I read somewhere that U.K. trains rarely get full.So I’m well in going without seat reservations?

Not strictly an Interrail question, but since the DB community does not exist anymore, I’ll try it here. Some time ago, I booked the following connection for tomorrow evening (June 4th) on international-bahn.de:Frankfurt Hbf 19:49 (ICE 693)Augsburg Hbf 22:40Augsburg Hbf 23:02 (NJ 237)Venezia Santa Lucia  08:34Now it turns out that ICE 693 from Frankfurt to Augsburg is canceled already. I could probably take a different train to Stuttgart instead and board the Nightjet there. However, for today (June 3rd), it is indicated that the Nightjet will only start in Salzburg. For tomorrow, there is no information yet, but of course, I wonder if it could still be the case then.So I have 2 questions:- Is there any reliable information on the status of NJ 237 tomorrow?- If it turns out that the NJ is canceled (at least in Germany - I probably can't get to Salzburg), do I have the right to take another connection to Venice with my ticket
