Hello, I want to travel from Bucharest to Sofia this month. There is a train (IR 461) with mandatory seat reservation that departs at 10:11 from București Nord. The problem is that I have to take this train, and I will arrive in Bucharest one or two days beforehand. Is that enough time to get a seat reservation in person?

Is this train OK to just turn up for? Are we likely to get on?!

Hello,We're still learning about the inbound/outbound travel concept and would appreciate clarification. We're located in Northern Germany and want to visit Trieste as first stage, which would involve a very long journey.Would it be possible to break up our trip by taking the night train from Northern Germany to Augsburg (which is still within Germany), spending a day there, and then continuing to Trieste on a separate day?For our return journey, we'd like to do the same thing in reverse - travel to Augsburg, stay there briefly, and then complete the final trip back to Northern Germany on another day, since this would also be quite a long single journey.Is this type of multi-stage itinerary allowed under the in- and outbound travel rules?Thanks and best regards,Thorsten 

To the Eurail/Interrail community,I’m planning a trip to Switzerland and getting there via The Black Forest (Schwarzwald) in south west Germany.I would appreciate any travel ideas - I’d be interested in stopping off in a nice town but I’m really keen to get outdoors and do some hiking. Hi, I’m setting off next week with a 7 days in one month global pass, and as part of the trip, I have booked a reservation to travel overnight from Zurich to Prague. This is a sleeper train as far as Linz, then a change around 6.30 for the train to Prague. Will this count as one travel day, because it was all booked together, or two travel days, because it’s two trains? If it counts as one travel day, then I’ve been alerted that engineering work means I may miss the connection I have reserved, but there are a couple of options later that will get me there with no reservation. I assume this definitely counts as a second travel day??Thanks!

Hi, I'm so confusing...  I don't understand if I have to use my interrail pass ticket ( 7 trip in one months) or Is there  another pass to activate to come back in my country (Italy)?For example I finish my interrail at Genova, in Genova can I activate the pass to come back in Rome or not?Thank you I Hope someone answers me

I have my day's journey setup, but I can't get my ticket generated. 

We are due to travel today from Preston - London - Paris -Cannes but have had an email from Eurostar advising us not to. I presume I will lost my seat reservations and will have to rebook? There will belittle to nothing available if everyone gets pushed back a day. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions? If I travel to London that will use one of my “home” travel days so would I have to pay again?  

I’ve got a reservation from Venezia S. Lucia via Milan P.Garibaldi to Paris Gare De Lyon on Sat 30th. This train stops in Verona. Can I just board the train in Verona instead of Venezia S. Lucia or do I need to change the reservation?

Hello!  I’m trying to book a private sleeper compartment on a European Sleeper train.  The Eurail app is not giving me the option to do this:  I can pay for a reservation for a private sleeper on the European Sleeper web site.Do I need to select a 2nd class seat so that I can generate a train ticket, and then just use my sleeper reservation, or how do I do this without getting a fine for doing it incorrectly?Thank you!

I’m struggling with trying to figure out if a 4 day Greek Island Ferry Pass will be useful. As a non-European (Canadian) I understand that I cannot use an Interrail pass, rather we need a Eurail pass. To purchase the pass is quite easy but I don’t want to do that until I’m sure that my routes would be included.When I enter my first leg into the trip planner (Athens to Aegina) It gives me this message: “Sorry, we can’t show this entire journey. You can try to split it up into multiple journeys”.It’s a very short (30 minute) ferry trip so I don’t understand why it would need to be split. As well, the Eurail splash page shows Aegina as one of the Greek Islands I can sail to with the pass. I am specifically looking to travel:September 23 - Athens to AeginaSeptember 26 - Aegina to NaxosOctober 2 - Naxos to Heraklion, CreteIf anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful. D’après nos recherches, il semblerait que les étapes soient :  -Toulouse/Paris -Paris / Hambourg -Hambourg / Copenhague -Copenhague / Stockholm (soit 4 trajets, c’est bien ça?)Puis retour par le même trajet = 4 trajets supplémentaires; donc pass global 10 jours, c’est bien ça?Question 1 : le trajet de Toulouse à Hambourg, compte-t-il pour 1 seul jour ou 2 jours? (exemple : si on prend un train de nuit de Toulouse à Paris, la suite du trajet de Paris à Hambourg démarre sur un 2e jour ou compte pour le même 1er jour?)Question 2 : idem pour le retourQuestion 3 : quelqu’un aurait-il déjà fait ce trajet et si oui, quelles sont vos suggestions?Merci merci! 

I am going on a trip soon and will be using the mobile pass for the first time. I read and watched the video on how to use the mobile pass but it was very fast moving, even pausing and re-watching. I have the 7 days in a month mobile pass.12 years ago I had a paper Eurail pass, again for 7 days in a month, I simply picked the train I wanted, by writing the train and route on paper, and hopped on. Sometimes I even boarded the train first, sat down, then wrote down the name of the train I was on after departure. Is it still that simple? I don’t know why but it makes me very nervous because it seems a lot more complex, with hard deadlines on when to book and choose a train. I see ‘up to 24 hours’ etc. I am now a family of 4 and imagine myself frantically trying to link the train I need for 4 people at the last second, or trying to activate the day too early and losing one of my days. I’ll be in Italy and Switzerland. As a single woman travelling how safe is it with the sleepers trains? Any top tips would be greatly appreciated 👏 

Hi guys,I’m organizing my first trip in the Baltics and I was thinking about moving with LuxExpress, since trains are not the best around there. I was considering a night-bus from Warsaw to Vilnius and then day buses for Vilnius-Riga-Tallinn. Someone more experienced than me can please tell me if LuxExpress is a good company? How are the night-buses and the buses in general? Most importantly, is it safe to book now for August? And finally, how can I get a discount if I’m less than 26 y/o?I’m more accustomed to trains so I have no clue of how buses are or work… 😅Thank you very much in advance

We are travelling as a 6 next week (from 11th) around Italy and France. On the first day we have booked an overnight train and on the last day we have booked a fast train. On the other 3 days of travelling we are taking it easy and taking the day to travel on slow trains. Am I being naive by not booking trains for those days? I understand that not all trains can be booked but I don’t want to get caught without a train to get on.Any advice would be great.

It’s my last of my 7-day train  within my 30 Day Interrail Pass, but not the last of the 30-day range.I’m leaving Oslo at 15:45 and will arrive in Hamburg at 05:58 in the morning.To get to Frankfurt, I’ll need to book a separate ticket, since it’s not included in my pass. Is that right?Thank you

I’m trying to book tickets for my family on a Eurail 1st class pass.I’m looking to go Spiez → Venezia San Lucia on 11th October 2025.When I look for reservations on Eurail website/app, it tells me I can’t reserve the Spiez → Milano Centrale leg due to lack of availability. (both 07:44 service - EC 61, and 08:44 service - EC 43)Similarly, if we left earlier and got the regional train to Brig, it won’t let me reserve the Brig → Venezia EC 41 service (07:41 → 12:42).When I look at OBB, it brings up the 07:44 service from Spiez, via Milan, but states that the reservation is only for the Milano → Venezia leg. The 08:44 service states that it is booked up already! If I try to look at the same route via RailEurope, it doesn’t come up with any trips at all!!Any ideas about how to navigate this? My understanding is that the EuroCity services from Switzerland to Italian destinations do need reservations, but nothing seems to be coming up. Is it likely that all these services are already booked,

Hi all,I’m trying to book Eurostar travel for January 2026 using my Eurail Global Pass, but Eurail keeps showing the message:“Sorry, the journey details for this date are not available yet.”However, when I check directly on the Eurostar site, trains are clearly running for my chosen date. I’m still within the 6-month window, so I was expecting pass-holder seats to be bookable by now.Has anyone else run into this? Is this just a delay in Eurail releasing the schedule? Or could the pass-holder quota already be sold out? Any insight or tips would be appreciated! I’d like to avoid paying full fare if possible. Thanks in advance.

Hi all, We'll be venturing to Denmark and Sweden this summer and this is new territory to me when it comes to operator pass validity and the reservations. I am doing the planning mostly with bahn.de as they include everything, however the information about reservations being required is conflicting with the information on interrail's own planner (which I prefer not to use for planning as I know it can be outdated).So my question is: where do I find the ultimate truth whether a reservation is required or just optional?I can make reservations on SJ.se and the cost of 35 SEK which is of course not a a great sum, however their English-version website is not clear about whether the reservation is optional. I prefer not to fix ourselves beforehand (our freedom-lesson from earlier trips) and therefore take trains without compulsory reservation. Here is an example of contradictory information for a particular journey we want to make on 5 August:10:23 ODENSE (Denmark) EC 1198interrail planner s

Hello trying to book a reserved seat. Need to do it at the station and no one understands the Eurail pass. I am in Bulgaria. cannot help please? 

I got a eurail pass for 4 days in one month and have it all planned out to go from london to paris to madrid.. etc, but I was wondering if I can use my pass for shorter local journeys in each city on travel days as well? For example, I’m going to arrive in Paris around 11 in the morning and want to use that day to explore the city. Can I just my eurail pass to get around the city that day or is local travel not included? And if It is included how do I go about adding those journeys to my pass? 

Hey, I live and study in the netherlands but I don't have a official rental agreement and I´m not officially registered in the netherlands. Is it possible to use my student ID / Proof of enrolment as a official residency document, so I can choose netherlands as my country of residence? Generally, is there a general rule what counts as a general residency document? Happy to get some help with that :) GreetingsRikky

Sortirem de Lió i anirem a Lucerna.L’app ens ofereix el trajecte Geneve-Lausanne-Zurich. Però, per passar per llocs més atractius, estem sospesant el trajecte Geneve-Montreux-Visp-Spiez-Interlaken. Són massa canvis en un dia? Ens podem fiar dels horaris dels trens suïssos? Sols ens apareix reserva opcional entre Visp i Spiez i ja l’hem fet. Però voldríem assegurar-nos que és viable. Arribaríem al destí a les 20:30 aproximadament. Tenim un Aribnb reservat. És massa just el timing? Què us sembla? 

Per què serveix el planificador de la web interrail un cop tens descarregat el Rail Planner al mòbil? T'aporta algun servei afegit?
