EU citizen with British children

Hi there, Could anyone answer 2 questions for me, please? I'm a Hungarian with 2 British children and we live in the UK. Can I buy interrail passes for us?Also can we use the first day on the pass to travel from North West to London and the same day from London to Paris or Amsterdam? Thanks Krisztian

Short notice reservations in France

This summer (end of July to the start of August) I will travel from Denmark to the Pyrenees to hike for 1 or 2 weeks. I will buy an interrail pass for the journey.I will buy reservations for the outbound journey. (If all goes well I will be able to do this part of the journey in just 1 travel day - this includes 2 night trains)But since I don't know when I will finish my hike, I can't buy reservations for the home journey in advance.Most trains in France requires a reservation. The only exception is the regional TER-trains. But they are slow. And I am not sure how comfortable they are on a long journey.What my chances of buying a reservation for a French long distance train in the start of August with just a few days notice in the start of August?My home journey starts in Toulouse.I know that some French trains only has limited interrail reservations. I guess they will be sold out. But what about the trains that are not marked as limited in the Interrail Planner?Just to complicate thin

Hi everyone! I will be visiting Europe very soon and are delighted to hear that the Eurail Pass is on 15% off this spring!Upon doing some calculations, we found that the flexi Eurail pass could save more cost compared to the half-fare pass/STP. I'm sharing our itinerary, could anyone help me to fact check that I am using the pass correctly? Do let us know if there are better ways to use the flexi pass! How do I make a recommended reservation when there appears to be no ability to make one?

How do i make a reservation when it says “This is a popular train. Seat reservations are recommended but not required.” but there is no option to reserve a seat?I have a 1st Class 15 day pass and the trip I am looking at is may 6 from Vienna to Prague at 11:10AM

Paris to Barcelona first class reservation with second class pass

Hey y’all, thanks for your help. I’m trying to get from Paris to Barcelona on Wednesday Feb 21. There’s one direct train that isn’t sold out yet, but seems the only ticket left are first class. I have a EUrail global second class pass.I’ve read on similar questions in the community that France/SCNF sometimes allows people to pay the first class reservation fee as an upgrade and it’s fine even if you have a second class pass. But I’ve also read that basically I’d be riding without a valid ticket, so I haven’t bought anything yet. Rather urgent though, since I think this is the last ticket available. Any advice? I could go to Gare du Lyon tomorrow and ask in person. It’s difficult for me to call because I don’t have a valid phone number right now, but I can figure out how to if needed.

Suggestions for Lucerne, Interlaken, Zermatt with Global Eurail Pass

Hi,Firstly, lucky to have this forum. Thanks for doing this wonderful job and making our trips easy and worthwhile!My partner and I are traveling to Switzerland from 19th to 23rd July. We are planning to buy a Eurail Global Pass as we intend to travel to other European countries too. I have a few questions about three of my trips here –1. We are planning to do the Golden Round Trip from Lucerne on the 20th of July (Saturday). What journies here are covered totally under the Global Eurail Pass? Bearing in mind that it is a weekend in July, should I make reservations in advance? If I have to book individual tickets for each of the rides, what is the best website to book it from? (Boat to Alpnachstad –> cogwheel train to Pilatus –> Cable Car to Kriens –> Bus to Lucerne)Any other tips and tricks for this particular trip, please?Not able to figure out from this page https://benefitsportal.eurail.com/benefits/swiss-private-trains-benefits/ maybe the term language and place names are

Suggest of buying ticket for no of days

Hi All,  I need suggestion on how many travel days pass should I book. Below is my itenary:  Travel Day 1: Reaching Basel from Rome by Air and taking same day  train from Basel to Interlaken as I have stay booked in Interlaken. Within Interlaken , we also plan to travel to Junfrau mountain via the local train.  Travel Day 2: Take train From Interlaken to Innsbruke  Travel Day 3: Take train from Innsbruke to Prague Travel day 4: Prague to Berlin.  I was booking 4 days Interrail but I am getting suggestions of booking 5 days. Which does not make sense to me that is the reason I thought of checking from the experts. Please help.

Hello, We are renting a place in Rothenburg a little aways from Lucerne that requires bus travel. Does Eurail global pass cover local bus and train travel? Does showing the pass from the Railplanner app enough or is there a ticket buying process involved?Thank you.

Exchange Pass

Hello, My partner and I bought a Mobile 7-day Global Pass, but we feel we got the wrong pass… We figured out that we only need 3 days of train travel, hence we should have gotten the Mobile 4-day Global Pass. We already paid and reserved our seats for our trains with the 7-day pass, but we have not yet activated the pass as we are starting our trip at the end of March 2024. A couple questions:Can we exchange our pass from a Mobile 7-day Global Pass to a Mobile 4-day Global Pass? Although we already booked our trains with the Mobile 7-day Global Pass, if we exchange our pass to a Mobile 4-day Global Pass, will we have to rebook our trains? (we fear that if we have to re-reserve our trains, we will lose the reservations we had already made since it seems the leg of our trip from London to Paris has limited reservations available as we are traveling on Easter Monday). Thank you so much in advance! PRICE CLARIFICATION

We are thinking about purchasing a Eurail Pass for our holiday later this year. When I look at Rome2Rio, the price for a mid morning fast train from Paris to Bordeaux (for example), is approx $100 AUD pp. By comparison, the price on the Rail Planner app is from Euro 12 pp. Please assist me to better understand how to access pricing on Rail Planner. Thank you.

Budapest-Keleti - Bucarest

Hi!So, i am planning to travel from Budapest (Keleti) › Bucharest (Nord) via Szonol, train NT473 and i am trying to book a seat reservation for a double sleeper for me and my wife. It happens that it allows me to book on my own, but once i add a traveler, it only shows me the 2nd class ticket reservation.I tried to book on OBB website, but it says tickets are not available. Does this have to do with the 30/60 days booking availability window?This is kind of confusing so a little help would make a difference.Thanks!Joel Ventura

HiNew here and looking at a European round trip which appears to cost just over 400 euros, including London. But, if I look at travel on mainland GB it appears to cost over 600 euros.On trains travelling from e.g. Penzance to London, can you board anywhere along it’s journey?Asking because many places are listed.Please forgive my ignorance, just learning and planning.Thanks

Hello, this will be our first time to Europe and have a couple questions.  We are traveling in Aug/Sept 2024 so we have time to plan.Our trip is 3 parts.  First part, arrive in London and travel to Edinburgh by train - travel around Scotland for 4 days and then train back to London.Part 2, fly from London to Budapest for 3 or 4 days.Part 3, travel from Budapest by train, probably going Salzburg, Munich, Zurich, and ending in Basel.  Spending a night in each city.Does a 4-7 day Eurail pass make sense (which would cover the London to Edinburgh legs, as well as Budapest to Basel), or would it be easier to just buy tickets as we go?  Days of travel will be known and our schedule will be flexible as far as train times are concerned.If we do go with a pass, is a paper pass easier to work with?  I’ve been reading reviews about issues with the app, wifi, etc. I can’t find much information on what you do with the paper pass when you are ready to board a train.Thank you!

Hi All,My partner and I are traveling to Europe for our honeymoon from 8th to 29th July. We are planning to travel by train to all the following countries. I would love suggestions on the most scenic routes at affordable prices. Which trains should we take for the best experience? Would also like feedback if we need to tweak our itinerary. 8th to 12th - UK.  -→ Travel from London to Amsterdam on 12th early morning. 12th to 14th - Amsterdam. --→ Travel from Amsterdam to Brussels on 14th early morning. 14th to 16th - Brussels --→ Travel from Brussels to Paris on 16th early morning. 16th to 18th - Paris --→ Travel from Paris to Zurich on 18th early morning (Why can I not see any direct trains international to and from Switzerland for July? Are they canceled in summer?) 18th to 22nd - Switzerland (Zurich - Lucerne - Interlaken - Zermatt) 22nd overnight or 23rd early morning travel from Zermatt to Venice (Not finding good direct trains again. Trouble booking train between Paris and Lucerne using Global Pass

Hi there - I apologize in advance for not being able to figure this out. Been trying and researching for about 2 weeks!  Coming to Europe in June 2024 for my twin daughters high school graduation. Already purchased our Eurail Global Pass, and have booked a few trains. Stuck trying to book Paris to Lucerne on Monday, June 3. I see that there are some high speed trains between these cities with 4 hr 45 min routes, however I cannot figure out how to book one of these with my Eurail Global Pass?!?  All I can find is longer, 6-7 hour train trips.  How can I book the shorter train trip using my pass?  THANK YOU!
