Travelling by train

Hello! I bought 2 tickets by the end of 2021 and I was expecting to activate them this summer, however, with all this tension war in Europe, I would like to ask if it’s possible to activate the passes later after their validity. I really want to travel, but with all this situation I was wondering if it’s possible to use passes in a peaceful and safety time.Thanks in advance!

Hallo zusammen Heute wollten ich und mein Bruder in die Ferien mit eurail.Der Pass wurde aufs heutige Datum aktiviert.Nun wurden wir beide 30min vor Abfahrt auf das Coronavirus positiv getestet und müssen nun 5 Tage Zuhause in Quarantäne.Da der Pass aktiviert wurde und wir sonst keine Ferien mehrmachen können,Lautet unsere Frage, ob der Pass vollumfänglich zurückerstattet wird oder ob überhaupt etwas zurückerstattet wird? Gruss Pirmin B.

Hello!I plan to travel to Europe for 4 months starting May 2022.I plan on buying the 3 months unlimited Eurail global pass.I understand that there’s a 90 day limit for tourist visas in a 180 day period for US citizens. Does that mean I have to fly out of the Schengen zone on day 90? Or can I use the Eurail pass  to travel to non-Schengen countries after the 90th day? would love any insight and help on this! :)

Dear travelers,I am trying to find out how I can travel from Rotterdam Central to Sevilla. I found several websites with explanations (for example: https://rail.cc/nl/trein/amsterdam-naar-sevilla#c1), however it is super expensive to buy them all apart from eachother. Now is it possible to buy a pass via https://www.interrail.eu/nl but I don't know when I am buying that pass if i can then travel or sure of the place in the train. Can somebody please help me I like to go around 4/5 march till 9/10 march but I need to be back on 10 march in the morning or during the day because I have a wedding that day! 

I am planning to do a 9 day trip around the above countries by train in early March. I am a little confused as to how covid requirements work as I move between countries as someone who is from the UK.My hopeful itinerary is:Brussels, Belgium (1 night)Amsterdam, Netherlands (2 nights)Germany - Berlin, Hamburg and Munich (total 3 nights)Budapest (2 nights)Then possibly fly from Budapest to Paris and stay there for a week before returning to the UKAmbitious I know! Hi everyone,Hope you are all well and that someone might be able to help. We are travelling via Eurostar into Paris, spending a few days in Paris/Disneyland before travelling to Switzerland. We then come back into Paris for an overnight stay before returning home. My husband and I are vaccinated and had Covid over Christmas. My elder son has had one vaccination and recovered from Covid (twice!) and my younger son is 10 and whilst not eligible for a vaccination yet, has also recovered from Covid.My understanding is that, in addition to the above, we will need to show negative tests upon entering Paris from the UK but that our vaccination status is sufficient for Switzerland. Will we need to arrange tests whilst in Switzerland in order to go back into Paris to return home the following day?Any advice is gratefully received!Thanks, Laura and Chris

Hello and thanks to anyone taking the time to read/respond,I received the Janssen vaccine 06/21 (single dose considered full vax in US) & just received a Moderna shot 02/22 while here in Germany. It seems some consider that fully vaxed & some consider that a booster. I do have an EU digital certificate stating some countries consider me fully vaxed in 7 days from Moderna shot, some in 14 days, some immediately. I also contracted Covid (confirmed PCR test in hand from Thailand hospital) Dec 23 with subsequent recovery.I came to Germany to see some of where my family immigrated from, but being my first time in Europe I’d like to briefly explore some other areas (Luxembourg, Paris, Barcelona, Zurich, Prague & Amsterdam) over the next month before heading back to the states and was thinking about going the EU Rail route. If I get a PCR test before each train should I be ok given my vax & recovery status? It appears all of these areas I would like

We will travel from Madrid to Paris, then from Paris to Amsterdam. We don’t need a Global Pass, but I where can I buy the tickets to travel to that destinations? The mobile app shows me the prices but there is no option to buy the ticket. Thanks

Hi there! It is my first time travelling to Europe. With the current covid restrictions in place, can I still use Eurail to get between countries in Europe, or can it only be used within a single country?I am triple vaccinated and therefore will be able to obtain a vaccine certificate.  I understand that different countries have slightly different rules regarding entry criteria. Therefore I’m wondering how the trains are operating at the moment to uphold these rules. For example, would I still be able to catch a train from Greece to Croatia if I met all the correct requirements for each country? I.e vaccine certificate, and negative covid test. Who checks these when the train crosses the borders into new countries? Thank you for your helpKind regards, Loren

I’ve been looking into bank cards for when I travel Europe and was wondering what cards have been used without having any problems with them. I’m thinking of using Sterling bank but want to know if you get to decide weather you pay in GBP or the local currency when using the card, does it work in all countries across Europe, do some places not accept a Sterling bank card.  Thanks :)

Today i asked the local train company information about eurail/interrail, conserning an imminent eurotrip I'm about to have and they replied to me that they do not collaborate with your services anymore since COVID 19 pandemic started. I would like to ask,  if there are any similar restrictions  to any other contracting countries,and if so, which countries are these? Thank you very much in advance. 

Is it possible to just buy one train ride, one direction, one stop? We just want to take the high speed train from Paris to Barcelona.  I can’t see how to do that. 

Does the red colour code for covid mean that you can’t entre the country at all? I’ve had a look on Re-open EU (europa.eu) website but am still unsure. Also, do you need 2 or 3 vaccinations to be able to travel or is this dependant on the country and is it just you covid vaccination pass that’s needed.

Hi, I saw that there are still some restrictions when traveling through certain countries such as Norway or Finland, like taking a test 72 hours before. Do these still apply when traveling with the train? Thank you, David

Hiya, I am travelling from the Uk hopefully to most of the countries in Europe, is there a universal test test provider for lateral flows for travel accepted by all or many of the countries? If not where do you find the test providers accepted for travel to each country?

Hi everyone. This is my first time in Europe. Im traveling next week with my parter in Eurail. We are gonna visit  Netherlands and Belgium so we are very glad. We are both fully vaccinated and we have the vaccinated certification of our country (wich is not in Europe) so we havent got the green pass yet. Are there any problems or risks if we only travel with the certification of our country? What could happen?I'll be so grateful to have an answer from you guys! Thank you so much!

Hello, I’m after some advice on the covid requirements for some countries. I’m aware most countries want proof of negative PCR or lateral flow tests however does this mean you go to a PCR testing centre in each country when arriving for the following country in advance or are you able to take your own laterial flows and do it this way? I’m currently in the UK and looking to travel from here
