Hi,I searched, but couldn’t find a suitable answer. Are there restrictions to times you can travel with an Interrail pass? I need to get from Cestas (near Bordeaux) to Mansfield in the UK for a short trip. Basically, a day’s travel, a day’s visit and a day’s travel back. I’ve done it for the last couple of years by booking two sets of tickets on the Trainline, but this would make it simpler (and cheaper). B

I have mostly avoided travelling through france and spain because of all the mandatory reservations, but at some point it makes sense to also visit spain and portugal atleast once despite the annoying reservations. (I am considering doing it this year if i dont find someone to travel another route together)Starting in Germany(direct ICE to Paris) or Switzerland i plan to travel via France and Spain to Portugal and then back to Paris (maybe travelling to the uk before returning, so i have atleast one country that has easy travel with an interrail pass).Whats the best way to get to portugal and back with some interesting stops in Spain, without spending so much on mandatory reservations. Especially the reservation for international trains seem quite expensive.(France to spain) And spanish trains seem hard to reserve (online) without paying booking fees on top of the reservation cost. Over the weekend, I purchased two (5 day in 1 month) InterRrail passes for August and reserved seats on trains to and from Barcelona via Paris. In total, this has cost €900 and, alarmingly, AI has suggested that buying individual advance tickets (with mandatory seat reservations) might actually have been cheaper! What do you think; does this sound expensive to you? N.B. The InterRail passes were c. €600 and 8 seat reservations (in and out of Paris both ways) were c. €300.

I've made train reservations on the Rail Europe platform using my interrail pass number. I received the tickets as pdf's. Can I add them to the Interrail app? If not what to do when travelling ? Print the tickets and activate the travelling day as a 'use day' in the app ? Thanks for your support,  Rob

Dear all, We found a suggestion on the official Interrail website to travel to Istanbul. When planning in the trip planner, there is an error and a suggestion to split the journey (from Sofia or Bucharest) in two. Without further advice on how to do that. Could you please suggest how we could solve this.Is it possible to travel to Istanbul with Interrail?Best, Tiina and Hannu, travelling in June.

Hi,I’m preparing my 1st Eurail trip and I have a doubt about the correct way to proceed.I will go from France to Norway. I take the train until  Hirtshals (Denmark), then a boat from Hirtshals to Norway. I will then travel again by train in Myrdal (Norway) 5 days later. Into the Eurail scheduler I have created a step from Hirshals to Myrdal in order to have my complete travel in 1 Eurail trip, but I’m wondering whether this step will consume 1 travel day on my pass ? Please note that the boat has been already separately booked.

Hello !Our country is France.We’re trying to use our pass from France to Spain.Yet the only trains covered are the one within France. No internal passes within Spain.So the goal is to reach the border of Spain with our pass. And more precisely the railway station of Hendaye. Which is a border train station.Has someone already done it and is it ok with the pass knowing that the city we’re reaching and from we will get back is technically a French city ?Thank youEmmanuelle

Hi,quick question : How does the discount on StenaLine ferrys work? I want to take the Göteborg to Kiel ferry in mid-July, mid-Trip. The Interrail-website states “Save a travel day on your Pass when travelling with Stena Line. This benefit can be used with a valid Pass even if your travel days are over.”. Does that mean it can only be used when having an active pass day or if all days are used, but the pass is still valid? Cuz I wanna be using it mid-trip (Not all days are used up) without using a day of the pass! Thanks for the help! With the best regards!

My wife and I are inexperienced rail travelers and will be taking the train from Nice to Zurich on April 24.  Two portions of the trip (Nice Ville to Ventimiglia & Milano Centrale to Lugano) show Open Seating.  Do we just show up that day with our Global Pass to access these portions of the trip?  We have tickets for the other parts of the trip.  

Hi, we are trying to plan to travel to Paris from Scotland as it is a long way we would like to stop in Milton Keynes for a day to break up the journey.That would mess up our outbound journey, is there a way round it as travel by train is very expensive in the UK.

Good morning,I’m a little confused about my Eurostar booking. I had an email yesterday saying:“We’ve had to make some changes to the timings of your Eurostar journey 9148 on Friday 14 August to Lille Europe  due to engineering works.Your train will now be leaving later from London St Pancras Int'l at 18:34 and will arrive in Lille Europe at 21:06.” However, I can see that my original train is still running (the 17.04) and you can even still buy tickets for it. I’d much rather be on this train than the later one. Does anyone know what this is about? I’ve contacted them via their form but it looks like it can take a while for them to respond (up to 28 days). Thank you.

Hello again everyone!Follow up question - Eurail Global Pass I was trying to book seat reservation from Milan to Lucerne. I followed the steps that "themaninseat61" provided using the Rail Europe site but I'm still being charged the Full seat price and I'm not getting an option to purchase. I also tried the Trenitalia and ÖBB sites and the same thing, I'm being charged for the Full ticket seat price. What am I doing wrong? 🙏Please help!Thank you so much!

Hi!We’re a familiy of four - two adults and 2 kids (0 and 2 years old).We’d like to make a reservation for a train from Mannheim, Germany to Paris, France. From what we understand, kids younger then 5 years old travel for free. However, when we try to book via the interrail website, the overall amount is supposed to be 88 Euros for all of us. Can anyone help on how to make the right reservation?Thanks a lotAntje and familiy

Should we stay by airport to catch train in airport or is there a better train station away from airport with hotels nearby. Thanks. were in our upper sixties, and I have not used the train system since 1982.

The easiest way seems through Paris est - Stuttgart.As I am aware of the DB train delays, I checked the punctuality of the train I’d like to takehttps://www.zugfinder.net/en/train-ICE_9573Regardless of the delays, 2 of the last 3 days are tagged “destination not reached”. Is there a way to have more information (“one-time” problem or repeating risk, where the train stopped, what was the advice to end the journey) ?Better, is there a more reliable route Rennes - Munich ?Thanks for any information and advice.

My friend and I are both fairly new travelers and were told by a friend that Eurail would be a good option for us to travel in Europe this summer. We were able to book trains that don’t require seat reservations, but when we tried to book seats on the trains that do require reservations, we weren’t able to. On the eurail website, we got a message saying we need seat reservations to board but there wasn’t actually a way to make seat reservations. When we tried on a separate website affiliated with the trainline, we were unable to book seat reservations using the eurail global pass discount. Has anybody had this issue before or know how we can book our seats?

Can I download/active a single pass to two separate phones?

Hi there, I’m very worried that when I get to Rome station to catch the train to Venice, I won’t know where to go because I can’t speak Italian. Is there a customer service desk somewhere in the Rome train station? I have both tickets (my pass and a seat reservation). But I’m not sure where to go to ask what platform the train leaves from etc. Can anyone help me. I’m not leaving for a couple of days.
