If there are no reservations available on a route that says reservations optional, does that mean they are sold out and we will not be able to board? Or, will we have to stand with our luggage?We’re traveling from Basel to Interlaken, and Interlaken to Zurich.

I’m trying to reserve seats for my trip from Paris to Frankfurt.Per raileurope site that eurail linked me to, it shows no seats for all trains that afternoon while i haven’t completed checkout it seems to be bookable on the eurail site..Can someone tell me whether it is really all sold out? 

To get onto Eurostar with a ‘normal’ ticket, you scan the ticket at the barrier.  The ticket bar code has encoded your train ticket which includes your seat reservation and the barrier opens.  However with interrail do you not have two separate components - your interral ticket showing that you are eligible to travel in Europe that day and your seat reservation for  a particuar Eurostar train.   So what do you do in order to board a Eurostar train - and does it work any differently compared to when using a normal ticket? Peter

Trying to plan with rail seeming the best option.   Arriving in Munich, then to Bayreuth for Wagner festival.Next to St. Moritz.  It seems there are several changes required and I will likely have one large suitcase and something else.   I have a hanging bag which would be ideal for my dress clothing, but fear it might be difficult to navigate the changes so am considering a decent sized back pack.  I will likely practice pack  and adjust what I take.The friends I am meeting in St Moritz say the hotel will drive us to the station and help us get on the train to ZUR and they claim 2d class is fine.OK, I have taken trains before to and from Bayreuth and we always took 1st and it was still difficult to find space for luggage.Any ideas for how I can best navigate this trip or have I boxed myself in?  I could rent a car to go Bayreuth-St Moritz or even hire a car and driver, but both are quite expensive.   I am old but pretty fit(at least no disabilities) but changing trains always involves

I am booking a reservation free trip from Munich to Den Hag which is reservation free.   I can pay if I wish. However, the system won’t allow me to add this trip to my cart unless I pay for a optional reservation.   Am I missing something or is there a bug?

I have purchased pass for 7 days now my plan changed and wish to extend for 10 days I haven’t used my pass yet Possible to extend 

Hi all, this is my very first time going overseas and l need some help with a train reservation.l want to catch a direct train from Paris to Zurich on Sunday 2nd June 2024. l have been waiting for the correct train to come up on Eurail timetable. Once it did l tried to buy the reservations however it is  saying prices unavailable. l have tried going to all the other train sites like B-Europe, Rail Europe, TGV Lyria etc, but am unable to do so with my pass, it will only allow if l pay for a full fare. I understand it is the busy season but l have been trying for over a month to book and every single direct train on the day is ‘’Prices Unavailable’’. The trains where you have to make 2 changes are still available. is there another way? As it's almost like the passes aren't covered on the direct trains at all.Any help would be much appreciated. Hello,I have a global interrail pass and would like to book a journey from Bologna to Paris on 30 August 2024. The journey I'm interested in doesn't appear on the Rail Planner application (departure 9.36am, arrival 7.38pm). But I see that the journey is available the next day. Do you know if other trains can be added to the 30 August date? Thank you

Hi!I'm going to apply for the discover eu pass this April. Should I be qualified I'll have the opportunity to travel. Will I be able to share the link with a friend who's birthday is on July? He's not yet 18 and I'm not sure if we would be able to travel together. 

HelloI have an interrail Global pass and would like to book a journey from Bari to Bologna on 28 August. On the application there are no short trains (5.45 am), only trains that take 23 hours... However, I see that the short train is scheduled to depart two days later, on 31 August. Do you know if other routes will be added? I can't find the information on the booking websites. Thanks for your help! 

When I connect to Wifi or mobile data and search the trains from Heidelburg to Trier in Rail Planner it returns no results (see screenshot 1), but if I disconnect from Internet and search again many trains can be found (see screeshot2). How do I solve this or is it only possible to search trains offline? 

Our route for our planned 7 day pass is all worked out.  3 days travelling out.  3 days travelling back and one day spare to be used at some point during our holiday.I read all the time about only activating your pass at the last minute in case you forget that it is already activated and problems arise and dates need changing.  I am more exercised about getting used to using the pass and learning in advance about its ins and outs.  I would much prefer, therefore, activating the pass early on, inputting all the journeys and and checking that I am totally confindent in using it.    I would then deactivate it and activate again much closer to our departure date.Are there any things to be careful about, if I do this?  Is there a reason why this might not be a good idea? Peter

Hello!I have interrailglobal 5 days within one month. My home country I travel from is Sweden and arrived to Germany. Now going back to Sweden (total used 2 days of travel). Do you know if I can travel again from same desitantion I started travel (Sweden) to another countries with remaining 3 days of travel and use then last day of travel to arrive back to sweden again? 

HiI got Schengen VISA for France starting 18/05. I am residence of UK and holds BRP so would go for Interrail Global 2nd class Pass. Now, to best utilize my first day (18/05) in Paris, I am planning to start from Edinburgh on 17/05 and would like to take night train at 19:58   from Edinburgh, which will reach London King Cross at night 1.05 AM. I would then take EuroStar morning train from London St Pancras at 6.30 for Paris.Could you please help answer.If this night journey from Edinburgh to Paris will count as 1-day or 2-day travel for Interrail Pass? Does ‘7 pm rule’ still valid? Would appreciate, if one can suggest how to best utilize my first day and Interrail pass, Can I make reservation on 1st class of Eurostar and in Bernina express (for Switzerland) , if I am holding 2nd class interrail pass?TIARegards

Hi, I’m wanting to book the night train from Stockholm to Berlin on 7th July, SJ are slow to release tickets, it looks like track work is planned. On their website they say tickets are released until 2nd June so far but when I’ve looked it says ‘not available’ even for then.Does anyone know if the track works are likely to impact the night trains? I’m mindful that I want to travel on a Sunday night too which may be an issue?I’m wondering if I should just booked with Snälltåget instead, but the reservation costs are a lot higher.Thanks 😊

Hello Interrailers. Would appreciate any info. on what Interrail discounts (or free on a travel day) are available for ferries/boats for short(ish) river/lake trips. I saw one Community post about Lake Constance, but the links are now outdated and the bsb.de site doesn't seem to have specific info. re. Interrail (that I can find in English). I will be on a GP in July visiting Salzburg, Munich, Black Forest, Metz, Ghent-Oostende, Amsterdam/NL, Magdeburg (Elbe?), Prague and leave from Vienna. If anyone has done any water trips in any of these areas I'd love to know what trips my 2 teens and I could take to connect even just 2 cities (e.g. Lindau-Friedrichshafen on a Munich day trip loop). Hi!My mom and I would like to plan our interrail trip to the UK with the Global Pass, but before we book everything, we would like to know: If we book a seat reservation (which counts as a travel day from the Global Pass) but then cancel it later (because we changed our minds, got sick or something else), can we still use the same day from the Global Pass to make a new reservation? Apologies if this question is silly.  I am learning about the Interrail system before I have my pass and so things may be obvious once I get it. I see people suggest not to put a train into your pass from your trip folder until just before you get on the train.   That is not the sort of person I am.  I don’t like to do things in a rush.When I set off on my journey I will be travelling from my local town to London and then on Eurostar.  There are several trains an hour from my local station:  let’s say 9:15, 9:30 9:45.    No reservations are required.    Suppose I put the 9:30 train onto my pass.   However I arrive early and can get on the 9:15.  Do I have to delete the 9:30 from my pass and replace it with the 9:15 or does this not matter?Peter

Hi everyone, We are planning to purchase the 3 day interrail one country pass for swizerland as we will be most travelling within swiss. However, we are also planning to visit  Liechtenstein from Zurich. So are we able to use the interail one country pass (Swiss) to travel to Liechtenstein? Is this covered? Thanks in advance.

Hello Community,  I've bought several pass reservations for ICN and TGV trains in France thru several channels (interrail.eu reservation service,  sncf hotline, sncb and DB).It was necessary in all cases to specify names and birth dates except for pass reservations ordered at DB Reisezentrum. These reservations are on ticket paper and didn't require personal details. Should I be worried that these tickets from DB are accepted? SNCF hotline said that passenger name registration is required by law for all long distance trains in France.How will I get access to the station and pass the gates with these paper tickets issued by DB without any QR code?

Hello everyone,I am planning a trip to Scandinavia and I would like my first travel day to start in Rennes (Brittany, France) and end in Stockholm. This seems possible thanks to the night train Hamburg-Stockholm.There are different routes to reach Hamburg. The quickest one seems through Paris and Cologne. The good point is that there are nearly hourly Cologne-Hamburg trains so if I get delayed in Paris, I can hope to catch up and be on time in Hamburg. The drawback is the high reservation fee on the Eurostar to Cologne : 32 € (compared to 42 € for a full ticket, checked today!). What would be your advice ? There are alternative routes through Brussels, Mannheim or Karlsruhe. They seem at first glance to take more time. I read about the two Hamburg-Stockholm night trains. Which one have you best experienced ? On the practical point of view, the Snälltåget leaves later, 23h59 (within same travel day I understand ?) so that may be safer. I am traveling to France & Spain in April (Aix to Barcelona and then to Lyon).  Would like to make reservations for the AVE International (the high-speed direct) trains that seem to be run only by Renfe now (when it used to be a France/Spain collaboration).  After much searching & frustration, I have learned that the reservations can only be made at a train station, and that it has to be a train station in Spain??  Can someone provide me with details of what that entails?Do all pass holders have to be in person at the train station to make reservations (there will be four of us)?  I ask because I am wondering if one of the pass holders (who is currently already in Aix) could make the reservations for all of us at the Aix TGV station?  (though clearly this station is in France not Spain, so question 2 below:) Some places it seems to say that reservations can only be made at Spain stations.  But if that’s the case, is it not possible to make a reservation to get from France to Sp

Hi Community. I have asked several questions already and the responses have been extremely helpful. I have a question that may seem basic to those far more EURAIL savvy than me. We have a Global Pass 1st class and will take the train from Paris Gare de Lyon to Mulhouse TGV6705. I have a confirmed seat reservation. My question is about the arrival experience. When I arrive at the station, what do I do? Do I have to pass through a turnstile or do I make my way directly to the train? If I have to pass through a turnstile, how do I manage this as my EURAIL pass is on my phone. Thank you for your assistance in advance. Hopefully I have been clear about my question. 

I live in Cornwall Uk and will be traveling to France via the Eurostar from London to Paris. Below is an outline of the intended travel days: Day 1: Cornwall → London → ParisDay 2: Paris → LyonDay 3: Lyon → MontpellierDay 4: Montpellier → AvignonDay 5: Avignon → NiceDay 6: Nice → Paris → London → Cornwall My question essentially is whether I am able to make these multiple connections within my home country (Cornwall → London → Paris and Nice → Paris → London → Cornwall) on the global pass as the inbound/outbound days or would I need to but separate train tickets for the Cornwall → London and London → Cornwall sections?  Thank you in advance!
